Best Weather coverage in Richmond

When the tornado's starting happen in Richmond last nite (around 10pm) I think WRIC-TV 8 (ABC) did the best job. TV 8's weatherman John Bernier can talk and talk alot and not bore you. And there radar's were on point. First you could see where u were and know where the storm was going. Plus he could name every single street before it even came up on the screen. He was on point.
And working by his self I might add

OVer at NBC 12 Tom Patton and Jim Duncan seemed to never know what to talk about. ALot of um's, no talking, and they could not talk and keep it going. John over at 8 outtalked em 100%. Plus their radar was harder to read and harder to tell where the storms were, especially when they used one which puts the rain in like streaks, which made it less adequate too.

CBS 6 did not come on live at 10pm and continued w/ normal programing.

CBS 6 did come on at 11 and at 1am w/ the 2nd torando warnings, and did a great job too. THeir radar's were the same as TV 8, very clear and he could talk to (not sure who he is sorry).

TV 8 and NBC 12 also came on at 1am and the same story TV 8 did better than NBC 12 by far

- Great job TV 8 and CBS 6 (when u were on the air w/ weather)

What does everyone else think on who had the best coverage on the leftovers of Cindy in Richmond ?

I will definitely agree that WRIC-8 was far and away the best place to find weather information last night.

At 9pm, 8 was the first station on the air with live coverage, followed by 12 and 6 about ten minutes later (12 came on right after the tornado warning for Nottoway County EAS announcement finished).

At 10pm, no contest, with the first round of stuff hitting Metro Richmond. Bernier, whether you like him or get annoyed by him, knows this town inside and out. He knows where places are to make his analysis practical to people in communities who are in harm's way, yet keep people like me, 40 miles away, engrossed in the coverage.

I was impressed when NBC12 and Fox35 took advantage of their news department sharing agreement and simulcast from about 10:05 or so, until Fox broke away for news, but 12 stayed on. However, Jim Duncan sounded as dry as Bernier sounded "excited". Bernier was over the top to a point, Duncan didn't sound "urgent" enough. That doesn't mean fake excitement, it means knowing when to sound genuine concern.

6 was slow on the trigger at 10pm, but quickly caught up.

The other reason 8 is superior in this coverage is, quite frankly, their radar is the clearest to see and understand. DopplerMax 6 is second, and 12, who originally brought radar to Richmond weathercasting in the early/mid 1980s, is a distant third.

Never thought I'd say this, say, two years ago, but when severe weather strikes, requiring looks at radar, I go to 8.

(By the way, I was asleep at 1am, so I don't know that round went.)
