Best wishes, Bob!

An enjoying Bob Liddle's final show -- 45 years in this market, for goodness' sake! 60 years in the biz....

But am also quite melancholy about the "Thanks for the Memories" interludes as people like Morton, Larry Nelson do drop-in inserts. Each of those people connects with you within 10 seconds of opening their yap ... and has an interesting story to tell without having to resort to predictable placement of the word "scrotum" to hold your attention through the interlude.

Of course one of the main difference with today's environment is that some national PD would probably GRAB you by the aforementioned body part if you dared open your yap for more than 11 seconds and mentioned any topic other than gushing about the artist you just finished playing or billboarding. We probably have loads of talent who COULD be interesting (and if we don't we have no one to blame but ourselves for trashing the "farm" system and removing any mentors in major markets...); but the reality is that it's just not that compelling to listen to vanilla liners and tight playlists while knowing the promise is so much greater than the product that gets delivered.

I've said it so many times on here....radio AIN'T brain surgery!!!!

Good luck, Bob!!! Thanks for being such a "pro" all these years....you DESERVE a few hours of daytime TV!!!!

Crap! You haven't trained any board ops in recent years, have you?

Bob Liddle was old school at it's finest. He doesn't need to put you in an aural full nelson to get your attention. He had waaaayyy too much class for that.

You look at somebody like Bob Liddle and awe at his remarkable talent. It's because he had the chance to DEVELOP it, something most young broadcasters are expressly FORBIDDEN to these days. It's like their wings get clippeed before they even learn to fly. And that is wrong. Radio these days only has a handful of major star broadcasters, a shrinking number of local broadcasters who are household names anymore, further signs of a dying industry.

But millions get spent every year on consultants, who are people who demand a fee for basically telling you it's a cloudy day in the Northwest.

Bob Liddle---a good one!!

Indeed! Bob Liddle is a class-act.....I had the honor of meeting Bob when I was a little guy when my dad worked at KIXI and he always had nothing to say but good things about Bob----not too many people like that in the biz. It is still great to hear Jack Morton.....I remember when he jumped from KVI to KOL for awhile back in the 70's.....interesting experiment...but KVI was where he belonged along with Robert E. Lee Hardwick, Ray Court, Dick Cross, Jim Blossey, J.J. Valley and Don Fuhrman.....that was true personality radio and they NEVER had to talk about bodily functions and acts of human reproduction----they were true radio personalities.....so glad I did have a chance to listen to those guys growing up.....wish I had airchecks!! Anyone have any old KVI airchecks from their A/C days they'd be willing to share? Love to hear!!!
