Beverly Cleary dies at 104, beloved children's book author

The beloved author died yesterday in Carmel, CA. Every American child grew up with this author, even if they did not know her. Her acclaimed books, like The Mouse and the Motorcycle, the Ramona series, Henry Huggins, and Dear Mr. Henshaw, have been part of school and public libraries for decades...and we are hoping for decades more to come. RIP Beverly. Your books touched the hearts of millions of people.

RIP Mrs Cleary.

She was originally from... well, not that far from me. My mum lived in Grant Park temporarily for a couple years in the 70s, between when Gramps finished up with the Army, and they settled on my side of the river. I think Ramona was probably in college by that point.

I wasn't really esposed to the books until maybe year 3 or 4 when we read them as a class.

But 104? Damn, I didn't realise she was past a century, figured she was maybe in her late 80s or early 90s by now.
