Beverly Kidd leaving 3TV

Very sorry to see Beverly leave Channel 3. She has always been a first class professional.

Bev, we wish you every happiness. The Peace of the Lord be with you and your family.

She was rescued from the continuing shipwreck that is the S.S. WLNE. Oh no!

And she's moving to the leaky boat that is the S.S. KTVK.

Now that she is leaving and taking the twins with her, I have no reason to watch channel 3. :(

They're there if you need news at 9, but refuse to watch FOX 10 for one reason or another.

;) I'd have to agree about avoiding Fox News 10. Maybe, it is the "Murdoch fiasco" that says: any means for expose news; negative half-truth hits on Democrats most times on Fox (Faux) Noise Network, etc.

K-P-H-O, those hallowed calls, TV5 lately has more bite and their "not timid reporting" gets my attention, often...

FOX 10 needs strong competition at 9pm. They are vulnerable, but no one has stepped up to be a formidable challenger. 3TV is the only station in town that can compete with them at that timeslot. Maybe if they could change up the format to make it attractive to both male and female demos (i.e., beef up their sports department once again--it hasn't been the same since Gil Tyree left a decade ago). But, I know that their lead-ins are Drs. Oz/Phil/Scholl/etc., so that may not happen any time in the near future.

I've started watching more Channel 5 since 15 re-arranged their personnel, but I still don't feel comfortable with their "local HLN" approach of leading off with "Where's Jhessye" every night. I won't watch 12 evening news until Lin Sue finally hangs it up, and that could be 10-15 years from now. They're not going to let them go as long as they claim they're the "#1 late news"--as they say, old habits are hard to break.

Who will replace Beverly? Will Carey and Fields do both the 9pm and 10pm newscasts or will they promote an existing anchor (or start a nationwide search)?

Did Kidd get an 'official' sign off? Unfortunately I was out of town Friday.

Not sure what you mean by "official" but her sidekicks on the final broadcast both acknowledged her leaving (with kind words). Beverly presented Brittney Shipp with her makeup mirror. It was a decent send-off.
