Beware Of Friend Request From "Tagged" it's Fraud

I got what I thought was a friend request from Carl Vanorden, of coarse I tried to accept it (thinking it was like Facebook), the problem is that the website kept asking for more and more private information, I don't like to give out like my phone numbers, both land and cell. I happen to notice in the small print that I was about to give them the right to bill me $14.95 a month via my phone bill. The address is also deceptive: It is really a PMB disguised as a real address in San Francisco, California

Be careful, don't get tagged by this fraud.

The particular thing is how did this get all the email addresses? I got one on a seldom used email address, which was a tip-off since I rotate email addresses just because of the spammers out there.

YIKES!

Thats some bad stuff right there.
Thanks for warning us. I could have probably clicked
on that thinking it was a myspace request

Steve. Was this directly related to a MySpace account or something else?

It's not related to My Space, but at first glance; it looks like it a request from MySpace or Facebook. I have a feeling that Carl's email addressee book may have been compromised without him knowing about it.

This is really your basic Phishing operation, trying to steal our private information, but very good t it.

Steve,

Thanks for the heads up.

I received an email like this today (supposedly also from Carl) but I just deleted it after having read
your post first.

Alan

P.S. We're still your friends Carl! We just don't trust "TAGGED" or whatever it is.

you mean that request did not really come from my Uncle Charlie?

I'm really sorry for this guys, and I'm also glad you didn't fall for it.
Really I can not say for sure how this happened. I myself don't sign up for things like this (who needs it?) but it does appear as if everyone I've ever written to or wrote to me got this TAGGED thing.

Ignore it and delete it if you get it and please accept my apologies for this, whatever it may be.
Carl

Carl, it looks like someone hijacked your address book. If you use Outlook for your e-mail, many spammers run a program in the background without you knowing it, stealing addresses and sending spoof mail in your name. I got three from your address.

They steal my address off the websites all the time and send out all kinds of crap in my name. I know, because I get them myself. Yahoo is famous for putting important email into the spam filter, and the junk in the in box.

I myself don't sign up for things like this
I figured if you did, you would have just used Facebook or MySpace.
