Beyonce-Single ladies (Put a Ring on it)

Not a dance track, but definately a fun uptempo R&B Pop track with more complicated beats and cool bass line. Could this work on stations like Vibe Vegas, Pulse 87, Energy SF, Party 105, C-89.5, Z88.9 ETC... Unremixed I mean....

If dance stations played "pon de replay" by Rihanna and "mambo #5" by Lou Bega, then "put a ring on it" would be appropriate as well. In reality, "put a ring on it" isn't all that fast at all. I'd consider "wait a minute" by Pussycat Dolls a lot more dance leaning than the original version of "put a ring on it".

On an unrelated note, two songs that I believe were underrated were "hitch" by Will Smith and "c'est la vie" by Ace of Base.

I'm surprised no one is talking about the Dave Audé remix of this track! I'm sure Brett and Kris are on top of this version. Pulse certainly is.

The Dave Audé version is the remix you want because just as a remix enhanced Chris Brown's "Forever" (Cahill) and Neyo's "Closer" (Stonebridge), what Audé does with "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) certainly does MAJOR justice to Beyoncé.

The trend is here as R&B and hip-hop artists are embracing dance music! Things are changing! :)

yeah but is it TRULY that R&B and hiphoppers are embracing dance music or is it all the remix guys basically saying "Let's take a good song and do our thing with it..."? 'Cos the wrong mix of ANY song is one of those things that might be an instant turn-off....

First of all, Welcome to the Dance board Andrea, nice to see you dro in... Second of all, the Hip Hoppers made the songs with a Dance-House beat to begin with before the DJs slightly remixed them, which I think is cool for club and mixshow play, but I think playing Remixes of songs that are already Upbeat enough in their original form is one of the reasons people are turned off by the pure Dance stations,, where,, Take a station like Z-1035, Galaxy UK,. Mix FM Beruit,, they play the original versions of the hits, and then play the pure dance tracks around them, which is exactly how most stations in the 80s and 90s did,,, Except back then alot of stations would play Extened 12 inch Mixes that were 6 minutes long, now days every song has to be like 3 or 4 minutes tops,,, But they dont really make quality radio friendly 12 inch remixes based on the original anymore,,, No one wants to set through 3 or 4 minutes of drum loops to get to the vocals.

depends how u count it.....i suppose your referring to the half time beat (98BPM) but the reason it stands out is b/c it is actually double that (196BPM) just like "Switch" (not Hitch...u were thinking of the movie!) and Pon De Replay. song is quite annoying actually (just like all Beyonce songs).

It's both.

For the brief moment the Star & Buc Wild show was on Pulse 87 in NYC; attending the Monday after-works at Plumm and witnessing this first hand, the crowd that was in there (which would have probably frequented hip-hop venues) were actually enjoying dance! Whether it was a house track, an R&B track remixed, people were really into it! Hip-hop has had struggles lately, and based on members entering into the coalition, we are seeing MORE hip-hop/R&B acts joining us! Heck, we WANT that! :)

Regarding the remixes, for the R&B tracks, the labels call these guys in.....and they go for the ones with the "cred" (Dave Aude, Wideboys, StoneBridge, Moto Blanco, Jason Nevins, Kaskade, etc.) as well as those considered up and coming that really take a track and go a totally different direction. The remixers do the job making the track their own and whether or not it packs the floor is up to the crowd frequenting a given club. That's what "sells it". And in the case of Dave Aude, his version of this track works!

why do i believe you?? :-*

Yeah,,,, Tony knows what he's talking about,, he's been a big part in getting Dance back to NYC and trying his best to get it noticed in other cities.... But he realizes that some markets are better off with either a Dance Friendly CHR that focuses on the hits, and other markets need a Rhythmic/Dance Hybrid, while other markets,, although only a few,, mainly huge markets can get by with stations like Pulse 87 or Energy SF....
