BHT winter book?

How did BHT stand up in the Winter book with the changes they made? I still don't think the Kraddick show will last in NEPA. Actually, I think it may last, but not because it has good numbers. Sometimes companies keep shows because they are financially correct for a station with a small budget and the goal isn't number one.

Common sense says it is too early to judge the show fully, but was there any movement in any direction after the switch?

BHT actually lost some shares overall, but Kid Kraddick is a solid syndicated morning show...it may or may not work. That's like a couple years ago WGMR out in State College added Ace and TJ and everyone said that was a stupid idea, cause they were "southern" low and behold they are in the top 3 every book...One person's judgment is not the overall outcome most times.

HISTORICALLY, though, syndicated shows have never done well in this market.
Stern bombed. Imus, even though three attempts were made, didn't do that well.
Listeners in THIS market like their local guys on the radio.

Yes, syndicated shows haven't worked here.

I'll make anyone this offer. Let's go stand on Public Square in W-B or Courthouse Square in Scranton and ask 100 people who does the morning show on BHT. For everyone who can name Kidd Kraddick I'll give you ten dollars. For everyone who can not (no extra bonus for "What's BHT?) you give me one dollar.

No splash there at all and if he stays on it is only because the price is right and even in the ratings wilderness there is money to be made if the cut is close enough to the bone.

BHT as well as the whole cluster is ripe for new ownership.
No more so than Entercom, if you've followed their corporate news. Where do you begin with their WB/S group? Their latest smart cost-cutting move (as they prepare to sell?) is syndicating the 7-Midnight show on WGGY. And as we all read here, syndication doesn't work in NEPA. It's especially not good when there are technical errors to boot. Heard a classic the other night when GGY's spots didn't run and you got 6 minutes of the "network's" fill-musicbed! Hey at least there wasn't dead air, but since no one in the building was listening....

Well, to have someone in the building to listen, one actually must be in said building.

Stern did not bomb in NEPA. He overpriced himself and Citadel did a sloppy job attempting to market his show. Actually that's being kind. Citadel did little if any marketing and put very little effort into Stern when he was on the NEPA airwaves, then yanked him after not too long. Speaking of being yanked...

Anyone who thinks syndications in NEPA can't work needs to remember nearly every time syndication has happened in NEPA it is almost always prematurely yanked from the airwaves suddenly and silently. (This is mostly done on Citadel's behalf) and will never work even if Jesus Christ himself wanted to syndicate his own show. Can't grow a plant from a seed overnight, and can't grow an audience overnight either.

Stern did not bomb in NEPA? No one was listening to it and no one was buying it. Have they changed the definition of "bombed"?
