Biff Burger? 1520?

Okay...okay....This is something I don't want to really start..Got a call from a fellow yesterday afternoon who said that after spending a Friday night at Biff Burger (are they STILL doing that cruise-in thing there?) several people there are gabbing about a WAPE style Florida Beach-Oldies station appearing on (gulp) 1520. Is there a chance that someone would want to run that place? It would require some kind of night time service..Are the greek operators weary of keeping that thing on?

Would it work? Could the "car people" keep it afloat with in-house sponsors?

Can I bring in my sped up Audimax, and reverb unit?

Will they have jingles?

Is Marvin Boone gonna do mornings?

My God..I'm sorry..I feel like poor old Howard Halland..may he rest in peace. (Heart failure as I understand it in Arizona or somewhere)
 
I wondered what happened to Howard Halland.... I guess he never got all those towers on Terra Ceia Island did he? RIP Howard. It would be wonderful to have a real oldies station again in Tampa St. Pete. Too bad it would be on such a flea power signal. Maybe Howard Hewes could be enticed to phone in a show. Crank that modulation up to about 150% positive or so....
 
Last time I hit that button they were the official outlet of the soon to be broadcasters of the world, Hawk Radio from Hillsborough Community College from about 9am-2 or 3PM when they jump (abruptly, most often without a TOH legal ID) to La Musica spanish programming till who knows when. When the power drops through the floor they disappear here in north Pinellas County.

Please note that I refrained from making any comments on the future of radio based on the future broadcasters from HCC ;D

Sorry about this post..Really a guy who was involved with Scott Robbins' old crew at JD Penguins (The Coolest Place in Town) who was not a true chronic..really a nice guy..said that sveral people there were talking about actually buying the station licensed to Indian Rocks Beach (so it MUST have been 1520 right) and running it as a barker station for Biff Burger. The guy actually told me that BUYING that place or one like it would be cheaper than buying time on a "real station" (his words not mine) And truthfully..they could run it on the cheap..load it up with Biff Burger (and similar) propaganda and have some fun with whats left of AM radio..playing on the classic cars, and overall squeezing out the last drop of entertainment value in a seemingly dying medium. And that crazy place still has a boatload of hangers-on on weekend evenings..

The other idea would be to apply for an LPFM..but they would have to be a religous entity or something right? AAAAHH wait..Our Lady of the Triple Decker.....First Church of the Garden of Footlongs...Tabernacle of Saint Biff..slap me.

Afternoons Jo Jo can bring in his boxes of Stax/Volt CDs, and Memphis Soul Collections..Jon Rock n Roll Anthony can do early nights and play Spencer Davis..Swingin' Medallions, and Bubble Puppy. Mike Reeves is really smooth, let's grab him for middays and let him do what he does so well..Okay..who'll do mornings?

OF COURSE! YOU KNOW! Mar-Vin, Mar-VIN..MAR-VIN!

Each jock gets 150/week and can sell one minute an hour on thier own show..the rest is Biff Burger time, Biff Burger Weather..Here's What's Happening at Biff Burger..

Overnights can be Korean brokered programming
 
I love it! Sign me up for afternoons! I still have all my GREAT Stax/Volt CD's and the entire "Have A Nice Day" set from Rhino records...plus every vol. of Time/Life "Sounds Of The 70's" & Time/Life "Sounds Of The 60's"! It would be a blast! And I would love to do it!!! But only if they feed me free!LOL
 
Okay JO JO..so we either buy it outright, or LMA it, and set you up at the Biff Burger on 49th Street on Friday night..We'll put you in the front of the building in a giant plexiglas domed studio suspended by a crane, with a big shiny Gates President console and three Denon CD Cart decks and a big fat Sennheiser mic with a bitchin' compressor..and lights..lots of flashing lights..then we'll set the suspended studio up to rotate..and put in a giant sound system and a dance floor..then all the cars park around it..every friday night...and we hire a group of girls in short skirts to do dance routines, and tend bar..and we all get big boxes of all the Maryland Fried Chicken we can eat..and onion rings, and chocolate shakes and (for you guys) beers!..EVERYONE loves it..and every week there are more and more people straining to get in..Biff Burger makes a fortune..THEN Saturday night is Jon Anthony..spinning the hits and judging cars..Sunday Mike Reeves can do a midday beach music show with the Embers, and Billy Ocean, and the Ojays at the Biff Burger Beach..(We'll buy and demolish a few houses behind Biff Burger and install a white sandy beach and lounges) We can apply for 50kw days 50kw nights (because KB in buffalo is all dried up, and would reduce power becasue of the Biff Burger station)..

And everone gives us money because they love us so much.

And we get free chicken...

and milk shakes..there will be milk shakes

and reverb..

..hmmmm..oh well

I do a radio show Thursdays called Old School Time Machine on Hawk Radio from 5-6pm on www.hawkradio.com NOT the 1520am signal as that goes Greek or does it? God Bless Dr Johnny P LoveTrain 8) ???
