Big 105.9 - Young Ron Brewer

After 26 years, Young Ron Brewer is stepping away from radio and hanging up the headphones. Per his announcement this morning, Young Ron's last air-date will be Friday, December 16, 2016.

26 years certainly is a long time in the radio industry, and counting Ron's work in other markets, I think he has put in around 40 years altogether, so it is perfectly understandable that he would want to step away (maybe temporarily? He emphasized that he was not retiring, but on an "extended vacation", whatever that means).
That said, I wonder what Big's long-term plans are for the morning show. In the recent past, producer Steve Harmon left, then Luke (audio guy) left last week, and now Ron. Plus, subtle things that Paul has been dropping, like them moving from a nice new studio at the iHeart complex, to what he called "a conference room", so it makes one wonder if iHeart is thinking of going in a different direction in the near or not-so-near future. Which may or may not be tied in with Big possibly sliding away from the Classic Rock format, although the P&YR show could work with most formats. The next few months or years could be interesting. At least, if it does all go to hell, I have Sirius/XM in my car :)

I remember listening to them when they were on 103 She, hard to believe that was over 20 years ago! In addition to Ron leaving along with a couple of their producers as of this week they're no longer heard on Real Radio in West Palm or the TC. I'm curious to see if WBGG rebrands after the first of the year and moves further towards a Classic Hits format in an effort to take on The Beach. Either way, hopefully Castronovo will stay in the mix but not be relegated to just playing music in the morning.
