> How long have they been classic rock?
The station adopted the "Big 106" moniker (after having been Oldies "WAXY 106" for roughly 2 years) sometime in the Fall of '94, IIRC, but it was at the time "Big 70s Hits", with essentially anything from Styx "Sail Away", to Jethro Tull's "Bungle In The Jungle", to Vicki Sue Robinson "Turn The Beat Around".. As the rock landscape changed (with Zeta abandoning most Classic Rock in favor of newer Rock product, and She going AAA along the lines of KXPK in Denver), BGG declared themselves "Classic *Hits*" almost as soon as She went AAA (July 95)....This meant adding 80s product, but I recall hearing Marvin's "Sexual Healing" in there. I'm going to say roughly 1996 or thereabouts the station actually started calling themselves Classic Rock, and they brought on board SHE jocks, Murphy was one, I think Diane Ray as well and I'm not sure if John Rozz (now at Beasley/Ft. Myers) was also in the roster. Name was changed from "Big 106" to "Big 105-9" when Stern was replaced with Castronovo.
There have been movements back and forth during the station's tenure as Classic Rock, where 90s product has been featured, and then taken away.
