Big 89 Rewind

Phil said:
Been there, listened on that!
BTW... What was the first song Landecker played tonight??

"AM Radio" by Everclear. It sounded great. Then the stream reverted to that weird 'reverb return' referred to above. Fortunately I'm close enough to listen on actual AM...what a concept.

BTW, Larry Lujack was in the studio this morning. Unlike last year, when he did it via ISDN, he flew in for it this year.

And, what's with the weird stream dropouts where all we get is reverb? It sounds like the return feed of the reverb to the board....
Luckily it hasn't lasted that long either time.

Larry was there today, not in NM. He even read an email I sent him on the air! Wow...

Didja get the VCR's value? $1000! L-o-n-g time ago.

I thought HE was supposed to be in the studio this year (probably since he didnt have to get up for the EARLY AM like he did last year); I guess with him and Tommy being so good together, why split em???.....I get those dropouts on the laptop at times...but not sure of the desktop doing the recording...will have to check later....

Yeah my 1st VCR (Panasonic portable two piece) cost me $800 or so...that was in 1983...last one I bought for a radio station that used it as long term recorder (of their competition!!) was $25...geesh! and that was a a stereo model...

Sent a couple of emails.......Waiting for John to read one of them ;)

I heard all of that! I was going to call, or send an e-mail ([email protected]), but figured it wouldn't make a big difference for the day.

Yep. All you hear is the reverb's return. Seems to affect dropins/extraneous material. Glad someone got through. And, they didn't start until JRL came on.

I'm looking for the Larry and Tom 11-12CDT hour, especially around 11:15.

Re: Big 89 Rewind (songs)

Who's picking 'em? Someone played a live version of "Back Off Boogaloo" that JRL had to guess about, and I assume finally said "get it off"...

Are you talkin' to me?

Yes, has JRL revealed yet when he'll do Boogie Check?
IIRC, last year it was between 9:30-10 CT.

Oooh aaah, oooh aaah, modify post, oooh aaah...
And he did indeed, during the outro to Car Wash--
"later this hour."

btw I have had no dropouts. And to me its sounds better this year than last year.

ps I have that hour on cassette. It will be a few days before I transfer to cd. And I just had a dropout. Thin Lizzy was a distant echo ::)

Sounds fantastic now at night! "Car Wash" is smokin. The iboc's off, the reverb is perfect and I can almost smell
the cars over at US 30 dragstrip. That's what WLS sounds like! Had to wait all day to hear it like this.

This is what great and compelling radio should sound like.

Although I was hoping that three gentlemen who were stars in both Chicago & LA (Charlie Van Dyke, Kris Erik Stevens & Dick Biondi) could be a part of this, the snippets from both Van Dyke & Biondi which I've heard today were priceless.

I've also lost the stream at the top of the past two hours, but JRL sounds really psyched about doing this.

The 'It sucked then and it still sucks now' segment (playing 'You Light Up My Life' by Debby Boone!!!) was hysterical.

I bought my frist car a '66 Charger the week Blinded By The Light hit #1. It was my religion to drive around in Rome Georgia at night and listen to JRL. So, thirty years ago, I decided to get into radio because of WLS and JRL. I'm still in radio. Tonight. thirty years later, I am riding around Huntsville Alabama with the top down listening to JRL playing the same song. I feel li'ke a kid again, I just wished I was still riding in the '66 Charger.

I got on the Boogie Check ! :)
