Big Ange

Big Ange!  I spent a couple of hours meeting with him years ago ('78?) regarding possibly doing the morning show at WWWG (3WG) in Rochester.  At the time, as I recall, he was doing mornings at WELM in Elmira.  My Mom was still living in the area and told me about him.

After talking with him and his female companion quite awhile about salary, etc. - the couple in the booth behind us, spoke up and said, "You should hire him, he's great, we listen to him every morning!".

They were from Elmira, visiting Rochester on a "get away weekend".  Turns out, we didn't hire Big Ange - but that was a first for me!

He was definitely one of those "bigger than life" personalities as shown on the Radio-Info "Providence" board.

He was quite the character... definitely bigger than life when he worked in the Elmira area. Did some funny stuff that "shocked" listeners back then, but was not in the area for very long.

Big Ange...I never met him till he was in Atlantic City New Jersey working for Howard Green at WOND AM. I did in a round about way, (two or three dj's later) replace him at WENY AM in Elmira. He was to say the least "colorful", I heard lots of stories about his run in's with a police officer named Gush. I know that Dick Irland fired him in Elmira, and then again in Atlantic City.
