Big announcement from WONE next week

Saw this posted on Mark Schlemmer's blog on wone.com

Another "Big" Announcement Coming From Wone
Next week you will hear yet another big announcement from Wone. I can't tell you what so stay tuned! I can promise you it is large. and no, it isn't Derrick from Huber Heights getting his own talk show or Steve from Springboro going cage match hamburger drill against Yankee Fan...

"Big?" Sounds like a simulcast coming to CC Dayton's favorite throwaway signal, "format of the month club" 106.5 FM.

I didn't notice that big was in quotation marks. Have to say though that I wouldn't mind if it were simulcast on 106.5. It has always bothered me that I can't listen to WONE at work on my computer because they have no online stream. I can't get near a radio when I am at work.

Can the words 'big' and 'WONE' even be used in the same sentence with a straight face?

I remember when WONE did simualcast on FM in the 1960's. It was (simply enough) WONE-FM at 104.7 m.c. (where WTUE is now). It made it fairly easy to hear the station at night in locations far outside of the Dayton area.

I remember WONE-FM as an automated top 40 station in 1970-1971 and then it went live as top 40 WTUE. Actually, WONE FM was live in afternoon drive with Bill Struck. Not a bad station.

This entry in Schlemmer's blog must have been deleted...I just looked for it and didn't see it.

False alarm, I guess. Stuff falls off the blog page all the time. Their website is terrible for information. Right now they are running WSU, Miami of Ohio, some high school basketball, and random college BB national feeds, but there's no information there about what's on and when.

Is there actually any way to listen to HD radio on the internet? I remember Lite 99.9 streams their HD2 channel on their website but I don't see that on WTUE's website. I wouldn't mind listening to WONE online. I have never understood why WONE doesn't have an online stream.

Saw this in Mark Schlemmer's blog this morning:

Today we will open the show with "The Big Announcement" for Sportstalk 980

Here's the official headline before it disappears again...from WONE.COM:
Today's The Day; The Big Announcement at 3pm
Today we will open the show with "The Big Announcement" for Sportstalk 980...Tony "TNT" Tilford, Operations Manager for Wone will be in to make the call...

Will this on-line audio be available during WONE's play-by-play sports broadcasts such as Wright State basketball games, etc.?
They also mentioned that they will NOT be able to stream Bengals/Browns games or NASCAR races.

The question that comes to my mind now is this. Since WONE now has an online stream. How long before WING follows suit?
