Big Announcement on 99.3 KISS FM

Just heard 99.3 Kiss FM announce that something BIG is coming major announcement on Monday, July 11, at 8:15 am. Anybody want to guess as to what it is?

A ploy to get you to listen at 8:15 on Monday morning? Maybe it's a concert announcement...Lady Gaga. There now you know, no need to listen.

Rebranding as "Now 99.3" similar to what CC just did in Jacksonville, FL with WFKS?

Or, simulcast of WHP.

If they simulcast WHP, I'll listen to 99.3 for the first time since it was KOOL.

I wish I understood the fascination with putting WHP or any talk format for that matter, on FM. WHP does very well where it is, they bill just fine. What sense would it make to scrap a music station to put an already successful AM in it's place. The likelyhood of putting anything remotely successful on 580 afterwards is slim to none. Nobody takes a 3 bedroom house and turns it into 2 bedrooms.

Okay. I'm sure they will take that into consideration.

I think it would be a simulcast. That said, if they are billing well with KISS then I don't think it will happen. KISS saw a ratings surge when they went mainstream spring of '10, but they have sank back to their low numbers ever since. The new "Radio Now" (former Kiss) in Jacksonville FL is going for a slightly more adult CHR sound, I wonder if that's the direction they will take.

Then again, as the other poster said this could just be a concert or perhaps a new night jock.

Like I said, The simulcasts of AM and FM have not proven to be of much success in the markets I have seen. Given 99.3's limited reach it makes no sense. No need to take HP to the FM or even a simulcast, and tie up valuable real estate in the FM. I've not heard of anyone stunting a week out for an "announcement". Usually there are other more titallating elements to go along with it. One other thing to keep in mind, is that the future of Hot is uncertain. It wouldn't make much sense to skew older. But nothing I have seen in radioland in the past year or so has made any sense.

whatever their doing is working. I'm excited..well not really but I am sure it's a concert or their own "show" announcement. Something at the Star pavilion or something prolly. No need to scrap the kiss moniker. They could easily tweak the sound with out changing the brand. Kiss is just as homogeneous as Now Fm.

Looks like this 'event' is focusing around the iHeartRadio app. The River 97.3 is also plugging this event as well.
Yeah it looks like that's what it is, because they are rolling out their "product" on July 11th. Wow, maybe if I get enough notice, I'll promote my own funeral too.

Seems like format is here to stay.

Which is a good thing IMO. Kiss does a pretty decent job music and personality wise.

Hot 92, on the other hand, is one of Cumulus's god awful corporate-programmed CHRs that ignores the majority of the chart (not one Cumulus CHR is playing the current #7 song, Super Bass).

I don't live in Hbg. So I gotta know, Who's playing?. Following my own drama right now in NYC. Somebody please let me know.
