Big Band and 30's 40's music

I like big band music like Glen miller So I need to have XM. there is no other place to hear that kind of music. and for decade channels I can't handle 20 min. of commercials twice an hour on AM FM Radio. I like the 60s on 6 with no commercials. I am willing to pay whatever not to hear so many boring commercials. I still wish MEL would leave and XM go back to the way it was before the merger.

You know recently I have been spending time on the 40's on 4. They do a nice job with that channel. I played standards on the radio back in the '80's when it got popular for awhile. Even though this music is way before my time there is some really nice stuff. I enjoy finding new music no matter what decade it was recorded in. It's kinda like a history lesson sometimes, especially when it's a WW II era song.

I'm with you also. I love the Big Band era of music and also a lot of the early 1950's music. Channel 164 is also great if you love the Golden Days of Radio (Comedy, Drama, etc.) I love listening to those shows, especially the ones made during World War 2. There is a station at 740mhz AM that plays some of these shows at 10pm EST as well. I'm only 38 but love this classic programming and music. We used to have a few AM stations around that played this music but they are all gone now.
