Big Boi Syndicated

It sounds like he's replacing Doug Banks. But rumor has it that WRKS has signed on??? Will the morning show sound change musically? Or will WRKS change formats?

FYI...not Big Boi from Outkast, its Big Boy from Big Boy's Neighborhood from KPWR in L.A.

I cant see Big Boy doing Classic R&B ( all show long ) .

I can't see him being syndicated at all.

I don't think it is good timing for him. KIIS with Ryan Seacrest is flying high and Latino 96.3 is coming on strong. Doing a "national" show will be a distraction for his local ratings and Power 106. But whoever said Emmis knows how to do anything right?

ABC Radio Networks is syndicating him. Not Emmis.

They probably will allow for different music packages depending on the stations format. He is starting at 3am Pacific Time for East Coast purposes and going all the way through 10am.

He is an employee of and still broadcasting out of Emmis' Power 106 studios. His show will no longer have the local "flavor" it once had. Something that Rick Dees lost in this market when his show was syndicated and flopped. Same thing will happen with Big Boy.

You didn't read my post correctly.

And will deminish his local rating for Los Angeles.

Recent examples of Los Angeles English language radio station morning shows that once syndicated did not grow locally (and in many cases failed in markets other than Los Angeles):

Rick Dees (KIIS)
Steve Harvey (KKBT)
Adam Carolla (KLSX)
Mark and Brian (KLOS)

Add the untalented "Big Boy" to the list soon.

Harvey is No. 1 25-54 in most of his markets. He's No. 1 english 25-54 in New York - where he is based out of.

In Los Angeles, there is in my opinion (and Alfred Liggins said in his conference call), too many Urban stations. Harvey has one of the biggest syndicated shows in America.

The Steve Harvey show died at KKBT and his syndicated show there died with it. My post has nothing to do with a show that is not originating from a Los Angeles radio station such as Steve Harvey's NEW syndicated show from NYC. You did not read my post correctly.

Technically speaking, yes, but you're making it sound as if Steve Harvey's Radio One show (also cleared in Houston and Dallas, IIRC) bombed, when it was more of a case of Harvey and R1 management not getting along.

[/quote]Steve Harvey's show started to suffer once he started going to Dallas.

Name ONE Los Angeles radio station based English language morning show that has increased its ratings in Los Angeles once it entered syndication? There are NONE (currently or ever). That will continue with Big Boy entering syndication.

My big question is, how is Big Boy gonna pull off a marathon 7-hour shift, starting at 3 am, every day? (I suppose El Cucuy does it, but it's still pretty rare)
How much of it will be tape? How much will be repeated east coast and west coast? Will Power 106 be running all 7 hours? (Why not, right?)

7- Hour shift, Big Deal . Ask a Warehouse worker how does He/She work a 8-( or more )hour shift .

Yeah, but that's 7 hours on air -- but morning shows take several more hours to prep. So we're talking about an 11 or 12 hour work day.
