BIG BROTHER GOES THE SURVIVOR ROUTE (WTF)

Big Brother has brought back back 3 former power player couples including two who
have been previous winners and another couple from last year's show.

They have been thrown in with 8 new players. I think that is a dumb idea and they
only did it trying to jack up ratings. Sounds like something Donald Trump would
do if he ran the show.

You just don't bring back Miss Americia 2008 and 2009 and give them another chance
at Miss Americia 2011
.....................this stunt could easily backfire on BB and CBS.

The return of former players on 'Survivor' has killed that show for myself and my wife. In addition to the challenges getting very long in the tooth, putting former players into subsequent games puts the new players at a decided disadvantage and takes a giant piece of competition out of the game.

I have never watched BB but assume the same result can be expected there.

Is it just me or does Lawon remind anyone else of an American real version of the Cat from the UK's Red Dwarf.

I am rooting for him at least until he says "Fish".

Big Brother is still on. I think last summer it was in the top 10 all summer long.
Just wish they would pick a formula and stick with it. Where would Jeopardy be
today if they changed the rules every year?

That one couple brought back from last season........the girl was already brought
back once last year......after being kicked off. Why don't they just write her a big
check and be DONE with her?

It was good enough with just 8 people in the house. A simple 8 week run with one person leaving per week is all the show needs, really.
It's summer filler, and nothing more.

Well the number of people are going down quickly in the show. As reported by Entertainment Weekly today, Evel Dick has left the cast of Season 13 for personal reasons. His partner and daughter in the competition will receive a key that guarantees her to be in the Top 10 in the competition, due to his exit (as it is one of the twists setup this year).

Julie Chen on her other show "The Talk" did a mock Big Brother with the other hosts of the show. They brought on two past winners to announce who was "sent home" and Julie asked them if they would be interested in coming back to a Big Brother show made up of past contestants. This could be where this idea originated after all she does have the ear of the "Big Eye" at CBS.

What is up with Evil Dick leaving? I read that he was in the backyard in his bathing
suit.............and then he was gone. Did the viagra kick in or something? ::) Or did
he realize he left it at home on the bathroom sink? :D

I thought the door was locked. Did he climb over the wall or bring an axe?

Glad to see him gone. He was very devilish. At least the other half devils are nice to
look at.

Those other 2 couples, is BB hoping for some action under the sheets? So tacky,
to go that route just for the sake of ratings.

Endemol (BB producers) assumed there would be romance between the show's players. Its not really happened to my knowledge, although I didn't watch much after BB2.

The bloggers online claim that Evil Dick was kicked off for making a video that went
viral once he was on the show (in the video he promotes his website). They claim he
was also told to tell no-one he would return to the show.......which he then told to the
videographer.

It's probably not that, a rumor was that it was an issue that apparently came up with his girlfriend. The producers wouldn't give up a character like Evel Dick who actually causes chaos and brings excitement to the house.

..And Ratings Soar

America likes a train wreck.

CBS was back in action with new Big Brother and the one hour premiere was enough for CBS to take the night both with adults 18-49 and total viewers, and was the night’s top program by a wide margin. The premiere was up across the board from last year, up 8% in adults 18-49 to a 2.7 rating, up 5% with adults 18-34, up 14% with adults 25-54 and up 5% in total viewers to 7.71 million. If the ratings hold in the finals, it was the best premiere in households and adults 18-49 since season 8 in 2007; in adults 18-34 since season 7 in 2006 and in both viewers and adults 25-54 since season 6 in 2005.

Reality TV reminds me of circus sideshows. In fact, here we call freakish behavior in everyday real life the reality show of the week.

Funny how FOX threw out their 24/7 reality channel around the same time Canada's Global TV somehow found it to be a good idea...

The problem Fox found is that, unlike the great entertainment found in CSI or L&O, Reality TV only gets one good round, then the reruns fail do deliver a good strong audience.
CSI & L&O seem to have a stronger "I've seen it before, but I'll watch it again anyway" following.

There's the hint that somewhere down the road, there may be more "Hit TV" and less reality TV, if selling the DVD/Blu Rays is part of the future.

What sells better? AN NCIS full season on DVD or Blu Ray? Or a Big Brother full season?
