Big Change Needed at WCVO (104.9 the River)

shereda--i recall working with you and mike when i volunteered at wcvo before God brought my wife into my life. you had a real passion for serving Christ , ministering thru music. i appreciate your efforts and you.

what saddens me is that wcvo has been dragged thru the dirt because of the comments of people on this particular thread. that is why i asked on august 4th to have the thread END and to pray for and to support the ministry of wcvo to central ohio.

you are correct in reminding people that as a CHristian ministry that there is a much higher degree of accountability to GOD, to the community and to our brothers and sisters. as Christians, we need to be a light in the wilderness and salt providing flavor to the community. wcvo is doing that well.

i wish you and mike continued favor and blessings as you serve our Lord JESUS!!!---davidgluck

Well, my goodness, my post has brought several people back in to our world. I do remember you David, it was so nice to "hear" from you.

Again, I did not mean to be offensive and I certainly NEVER wanted to drag down WCVO, in fact the opposite was what I wanted to state. That they have essentially gone from rags to riches. They have seemingly "figured" out their market and have done so very well. Nobody could dispute this.

My concern was simply the fact that his comments were insensitive to the many wonderful people--who looking at it from the outside -- would have said why are you at this place and why do you put yourself through this? I even myself wondered if anything that we (he) did was worth it. But we did see souls saved through "our" ministry and we knew we had to keep our eye on the task at hand. I believe that these men who were there were strategically placed by God to be there for a time such as that. Yes, I often questioned Michael as to why, but he knew his place in this ministry and led our family/us to where we were supposed to be.

I just wanted to remind Jake, and others, that if you are blessed to be at a station that is doing well, it is because of God's blessing. It may also be because of sacrifical giving of others. I am trying to think of a successful Christian station or business that was built by one man alone. I can't think of any. So, what I meant to say was that Dan didn't pop out of the womb and walk in this station and save it from the title of laughing stock. Dan has done wonders there, because he had learned this business from some fine and talented men. He worked humbly starting at the "bottom" and God blessed his efforts by bringing him to the top of the heap. I never wanted to judge Jake and my heart breaks that this was the perception by anyone. I meant it as more of a sisterly nudge.

I hope this makes my intentions clearer. Yes, I suppose everyone was laughing at the station back then, but they did what they could with what was handed to them. We also had to learn to respect what was handed to them. If the men who were there before Michael had not done the work they had done, there would not have been a place for the ministry to have been pushed forward. It would have been easy to think hey "Dan F. turned it from this to that" but without the sacrifice of 'the charter teams', there would have been nothing to grow on.

And no offense to Dan B. but Dan F. was an incredible boss. We were truly blessed with some great managers, great radio talent, wonderful staff members and there were some board members that I adored. We learned alot from those wonderful people... Ahhh, those were the days...I am so stinkin old! However, glad to be where we are now, having shaken brain syndrome from the LOUD rock music -- it is all good though.

I promise, I am not going to post again (okay, stop jumping up and down) ;)

Things are busy between Engineering on Southern Gospel AM, volunteering to GM/Program and Engineer a LPFM that is 'Theocratic' and Helping an A/C LPFM in the college town where I serve as Assistant Athletic Director (my alma mater)... Sorry I mis-interpereted your intentions when speaking of Jake. My apologies for that.

Jake's a good friend and I was only 'rushing to his defence.'

That said, there were some funny things that went on at CVO back in the day. By funny, I mean wacky and pretty entertaining. :D

Remember the art gallery upstairs? I remember a painting up in that gallery of Jesus looking down over the tower of the station. The tower had a red light on top and that light was directly in front of the chest of Jesus. The way it was painted, though it looked like the tower was impaling Jesus as he walked toward the station.

OUCH.

Then there was the station manager (I forget who it was) who lived in the basement and slept on that couch.

Then there were the prank phone calls that Richard Dolce would make to Charlene on Tradeola...LOL...

HA!

I totally had forgotten about Tradeola :) If we sat here long I am sure that we would have a lot to reminise about eh? I often wonder what has ever happened to some of the people of the past.

Skip, great to hear you and Ellen are doing well. Please give her my love. If you are ever in Columbus, please give Michael and I a hollar. Between our daughter's school, soccer, church and radio commitments, we have a rare moment to breathe, but it would be nice to catch up again.

God bless.
