The deal with Energy
Current mood: disappointed
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers
It's been a long 6 days, but I think I've finally calmed down enough to explain what is going on at Energy without coming off like a bitter ------. Ha! We'll see if I succeed.
You've heard me many times in the past comment on how tight the company is with the purse strings. While there have been plenty of times I have exagerated the truth for good radio, there have also been those times where everything I have said is 100 percent true. So you know for the most part what I have been dealing with for the better part of 18 months.
The management at Sierra H has decided I was making too much money for their budget and to save money, they are taking myself and Jorge off the air. This after we never replaced Lysa D at night and started High Energy After Dark. Remember, payroll was too high. And I was making so much money that I've had to have a second job the entire time I've worked there. Makes complete sense to me!
I was offered a position to help program both Energy and Mega, at a (substantial) pay cut. This is something I have reluctantly accepted for the time being.
Energy will now have only one personaility on the air. Pistol Pete. He's moving from Mornings to my old spot, Afternoons. All other times of the day, Energy is going to be nothing more than a jukebox. No DJs. Lots of music.
I'm sure some people like that, but I have always been of the opinion that the personality is just as important as the music. I've always believed that you want to laugh, win things by playing goofy contests, find out little nuggets about the music or what's going on in town, or just have a voice to connect with in between the songs you love. Without that, why not just use your iPod?
I'm putting my money where my mouth is here. What do you think? How important is a personality being there in between the songs? What do you think of Energy taking everyone off the air except for Pete? Will the fact that I am no longer on the air affect how you listen to Energy?
I'm not looking for any sort of ego stroke here. I want to hear your HONEST opinion. And I want management to hear it to. If you would take one moment to type your opinion, no matter how you feel about me, I would greatly appreciate it. Please send an e-mail to:

I want to hear every opinion. I want a flood of e-mails.
This is your chance to let all of my higher ups know how much I suck, and how glad you are I'm off the air. This is your chance to let them know I made you laugh from time to time and you'll miss that.
This is your chance to tell them if you wanted nothing but music you'd just listen to CDs. This is your chance to tell them all you want is music from a radio station.
This is your chance to tell them you love the station and you'll listen through the static no mater what. This is your chance to tell them the only reason you put up with such a horrible signal is for all of the other things we give you other than music.
I look forward to reading your e-mails. Thank You.
