Big City 101.3 BUSTED——!?!...And Already Back On!!!!!

For the past few days, the infamous "Big City 101.3" has been off air——which, in itself, isn't unheard of——then first possibly heard it back on last evening, but definitely on by about 2:30am this morning, though seems somewhat lower power and maybe not in $tereo...maybe using their old transmitter?
The kicker is, as I was checking again this morning, the woman DJ bragged something to the effect of, "...and what other station could lose all its equipment and come right back on the air?"!!!

hahahah are you serious? these pirates are unstopable

of course they were right back on....is this one of the ones Menino gave a shout out to?

If it's a Haitian pirate acting in the Haitian pirate tradition...the gov't down there doesn't pussyfoot around with pirates like the FCC does. It's find, confiscate, leave. Or, I imagine: find, confiscate, demand bribe, and then shoot to kill if bribe not given. So those guys know that having all your gear taken is just the cost of doing business as a pirate. They have at least one entire station's worth of gear ready to go and "hidden" at a different location. Sometimes they'll fire up at the alternate location within minutes of the FCC leaving after the bust...although the smart ones wait a day or two, move the new gear to the original place, and restart broadcasting. Aka "protect the hiding place".

Doesn't take much, either. A lot of pirates like to claim they have these giant 1000 or 10000 watt transmitters but that's usually B.S. A 100 watt transmitter...AM or FM...from the right location can nearly cover the entire Rt.128 Boston Metro if you pick the right frequency. And 100 watt transmitters are fairly cheap and pretty easy to come by...and are small enough to easily hide and/or transport to a new location. Ditto for antennas and RF cable.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Federal Communications Commission officials and deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's gang unit busted a pirate radio station they say was reportedly broadcasting information on where to buy drugs.

Authorities say the "Street Heat" broadcast included live advertisements for criminal gangs and discussions of where to buy drugs and find prostitutes.

Roti and Discount Furniture are my drug..
