Big Country

I doubt it. Journal is in big finacial trouble (along with others in this industry, especially those that are owned by paper companies). Although it may not be nearly as good as it used to be, at least they haven't killed the format. That's something positive to say considering so many classic country stations have become toast over the years.

Big Country 99.5 came on with a great local sound and just sort of fizzled out as time went on.

The problem is the satellite programming they have now isn't "Oklahoma" classic country and certainly not befitting of KVOO's former moniker, "Big Country." To me, songs that should be played aren't and songs that shouldn't be played are. Worst of all, the jock talk around Oklahoma-oriented songs sometimes sounds disconnected and clueless...like referring to Muskogee after "Okie From Muskogee" like the town isn't just 45 minutes away. There's a LOT of that type of stuff on there.

If money is the issue for going satellite I'd like to see them use the programming and library from their pre-satellite days and just go jockless. I really don't think anyone would miss the talk.

But then again, what do I know? :)
