BIG D AND BUBBA TO THE BULL

I saw that in Rodney Ho's blog.

My question remains: What is The Bull doing that would make the station competitive to Kicks? I realize the music mix is somewhat different, and The Bull is promoting that. And The Bull is also touting its more-music approach.

But at this point, I feel Kicks (for which the more-music descriptor also fits) is still the much better station. How will a morning show such as Big D & Bubba stand up to a local, interactive show led by a heritage Atlanta personality?

Maybe someone disagrees.

If I remember correctly ZGC tried syndicating the Greasman, didn’t work, 96 Rock tried John Boy and Billy (or was it Bob and Tom) regardless it didn’t work. CC failed attempt with MJ in the morning why would they think this syndicated show would be any different. Whatever happened to live and local? What happened to the target audience of W 25-54 or am I wrong, baseball, rock songs, and a bubba morning show...priceless.

Big D and Bubba did not do well for CC in North Florida. When their ratings fell overall, they
put on a local morning show (lured away from their only competitor in the market.) They now
have the better morning show.

Kix Layton is VT'd middays on this station..I don't like that they laid off an 11-year market veteran
from middays. He is OK but nothing to write home about.

A few months ago, the competing station tried Big D and Bubba. I guess CC didn't care if someone else picked them up. Result? Didn't last six weeks.

Came through Atlanta not too long ago. We mostly listened to Kicks. Although, Shana Vaughn on WNGC's middays seemed pretty good..sounds like a female jock I know here at home that's been relegated to button-pusher for an automated rimshot for now..

It's funny The Bull would hire someone named Kix. I guess CC is hoping the People Meter gets here quick because people listening to The Bull might be writing Kix in their diary.

It won't.

Q: Has any syndicated morning show on a non-urban radio station ever succeeded in Atlanta?
A: No.

So, how will this affect Moby? ;D

A source tells me that Moby was offered mornings on the Bull, but got a sweeter deal. I dont know what that deal was.

Kix Layton is also doing afternoons on WIBL 105.7 The Bull in Augusta. It'll be interesting to see how Big D and Bubba will do in Atlanta with Kicks, Eagle and WNGC.

Do you think that Big D. and Bubba will syndicate to the new Country station, 95.7 The Wolf in San Francisco?

I think your source has this one wrong: BD&B have been mentioned as doing mornings on 94.9 since the flip.

Entercom has more sense then to put those two small market rednecks on in SF
