Big Daddy Bites the Dust

Keith Michaels AKA "Big Daddy" of KLAZ's "Big Daddy and Heidie" morning show was let go Friday in a cost cutting move by Noal Mark management. The usual reason (money) is behind the move that saw Heidi shifted to Mid-days replacing mid-day voice tracker Kennedy and voice tracker Mojo as well. No doubt the move made sense to the bean counters since Keith was no doubt pulling down half way decent bucks as morning dude and overseeing operations for Noalmark, but that work still has to be done by somebody, not to mention that BD&H was about the last fully local product to offer advertisers. Penny wise and pound foolish if you ask me, but nobody asked me.
 
Maybe someone can give us more facts why this seems to be an often occurrence with them. I know everyone is doing budget cuts, but not every year.
 
I worked there a few years back. Here is the scoop.

1. POB=Phil O'brian was the morning show personal for many years, along with Eddie Tarply. Eddie was let go because of personal issues that i can not discussed. Phil left to work for another station for more money.

2. POB and Hedi was a good morning show start, but again phil wanted more money and Noalmark told him no. So he left.

3. Larry and Aaron have been there the longest after phil left. Larry was to do the morning show and aaron was to do afternoons. Evening shows was to be done live or voice recorded (pre-taped). However since phil left that open up some more saleries or money in the pot to be used. Thus why they hired Big Daddy to fill in the void.
Aaron was to be the co-music producer along with larry to be the music director. Big daddy was to be the main boss of it all but that seems to be butting heads with the rest of the crew. Ya remember guy name Doc Bryce? Stations Engineer that help put klaz back on the map with good sound. Well they let him go over finance as well. Again after somebody made the station sound better they cut there loses. Seems they get what they want and throw you away later on when they got all the uses out of you. If you ever been in radio station employee you will see the turn overs like they are bad underware. Granted i worked with a great bunch of people, just dont like the judgment they do make. BTW Noalmark is own by a oil business man. WHo btw owns shares in the Murphy Oil company, so the all his radio stations are just a hobbie for him. If he wants to kill it, than he will.
