whats up? corporate folks roaming around the area recently.....

just curious...part of the noisy majority here.

Cuts in Human Resources have begun in a few other markets... Here too? Man, I hope not.

Good luck to everyone... (keeping my fingers crossed that isn't it...)

:)

"The corporate folks" are here to finalize the announcement of WEEI to New England.
I heard that the manager of NH called a meeting to announce there would no layoffs in staff, when WEEI begins its simulcast; and apparently the staff left the meeting feeling pretty good about the situation.

I see it this way they couldnt have fired anyone.if they wanted to fire most of the DJs on the NH stations they would have to go to NJ where they live.

Which stations will be carying EEI? Now that doesn't mean they will be getting the Red Sox does it? From what I understand, and I could be wrong, The Sox will be totally with the WRKO network next year.

all i'm gonna say is maybe I should go to school for engeneering. maybe that way whatever were to happen job hireing/fireing/format changes... It seems the engeneers are the people guarenteed to still have a job in most cases anywhere in the radio world

Or Kool-Aide... Taking a program feed from an out of market station and no one will loose their job? And "...staff left the meeting feeling pretty good about the situation..."?? What did they do - flood the room with smoke confiscated from a local marijuana bust? Ponderous...

Maybe you should strive to spell it before you attempt to study it. Engineers aren't bullet-proof either but are usually needed at least until the new out of market format is up and running. Then they are expendable – then the contract engineer can keep it going on the cheap.

Again, good luck. I remember all the “don’t worry, all your jobs are safe” speech. Then the format changes kick in and… well…

Once again, I truely hope the suits are actually telling the truth and good people won't be out on the street – especially at this time of year…

In what markets? And what positions have been cut? I haven't heard about that.

Hmmmm.....where have I heard that before?

Wouldn't the Score be the obvious choice for WEEI programming? They're sports-talk already, wall-to-wall ESPN, no staff to cut.

My bad on the spelling, I was never good at spelling or english. I am only good at being a board operator and an on air DJ.
I only work a little bit part time. Its been costing more to actually go to work then it is worth, but the experience that I am getting and learning is what makes it worth wild.
