Big Ed back on in Fargo

Schultz Finds New Home In Fargo

ED SCHULTZ quickly finds another home in his base of FARGO, as TRIAD Talk KQWB-A (TALK RADIO 1660) adds the JONES/P1 syndicated show for afternoons beginning WEDNESDAY.

SCHULTZ, who was recently dropped from CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFGO-A in favor of the local show he replaced (JACK AND SANDY), is replacing the regionally-syndicated KSTP-A/ST. PAUL-based JOE SOUCHERAY "GARAGE LOGIC" show on the KQWB schedule.

In contrast to CC's mostly local dominant talkers WFGO and WDAY, which together control nearly a quarter of the audience in Fargo, #3 talker KQWB in West Fargo is all syndicated. It's 12+ AQH share is about 1/6th that of Ed's former station, WFGO.

Some might say coming back after three days off in market 233 is less significant than getting cleared the same week in market 52. But it still beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Now the big question: Ed broadcasts from WFGO. He is heard on KQWB. Can either claim to be Ed's "flagship?" If so, which one?

Actually, he was joking yesterday about the fact that he's looking for a new home, describing what it's like doing his program every day in a studio belonging to a station with which he is now competing.

I'm surprised KQWB doesn't have studio space he could rent... but given the vicissitudes of syndication, maybe he'd be better off doing something like what Franken is doing, leasing a production studio with no ties to any particular radio station.
______________
