VARTV has reported that Baker Family Radio (Positive Alternative Radio) is buying the CSN Virginia station group for 8 million. In Virginia Baker owns the Spirit FM that serves the Roanoke Lynchburg region along with a standalone FM licensed to Culpeper that reaches into the western DC market. CSN Virginia owns stations in Fredricksburg, Emporia, Waynesboro along with translators that service parts of the western DC suburbs, greater Richmond-Petersburg region.
I plotted all transmitters on a map and think I can figure what Baker will do with all their new stations. I could see WPER expanding onto 90.5 WJYJ along with the current CSN translators in Leesburg, Alexandria, Front Royal, Flint HIll, Winchester. This would allow WPER to greatly expand DC market coverage. I simply see the 89.3 WJYA Emporia, 90.1 WPVA Waynesboro-Charlottesville, the 90.1 WJCN CP for Nassawadox, along with current CSN translators serving Farmville, Lawrenceville,Charlottesville, Crewe,Petersburg, Richmond, Waverly, SMithfield, Williamsburg, Stanardsville joining the Spirit FM network.
I would assume info will soon show up on either the CSN Virginia, Spirit FM and/or the WPER websites soon.
