Big Jab looking for music

Seems like a lot of stations are getting in on playing local music.The Big Jab WJJB 96.3 Sports Radio is looking for submissions from local musicians to use for bumpers.Said they'll even try to mention the artist.Are there many non-music stations doing this?
 
this seems to be quite common with sports talkers these days. I have heard some of Rome's fill ins (sklar Bro) using some of their favorite indie groups as bumper music.
 
Maybe they didn't want to pay ASCAP/BMI this year and are using unsigned groups to provide bumpers! Local bands get exposure, and someone's hours doesn't get cut! Win-win!
