BIG JAY

Big Jay:

Glad to hear that you are on the mend. Despite some of the pathetic rhetoric and wouldda, couldda, shouldda's
who blog on this board, you are an incredible talent, deserving of the accolades. Having known you for many years,
there are few who are as determined, professional and as dynamic a talent as you. God's richest blessings to you as
you mend. I seldom traffic these boards, but so many of the bloggers sound like grumpy old people, complaining about
everything. If they spent as much time griping about everything and applying themselves to whatever
trade or profession they are in, they could actually enjoy the American dream.. instead of complaining about unimportant
things. Trust you'll be totally well soon. Keep up the great job. We're proud of you and your accomplishments.

I have a friend who worked in sales over at WCTC when Jay was there. He told me his old boss once approached Jay at a radio-dinner function to compliment him on his role at 101.5 during the post-Florio era.

Introduced himself and his wife to Jay and then said, "Just want you to know, you did some great things over at 101.5 with that station. Really changed the face of radio."

Jay's response, "I know."

There's a mixed bag out there regarding the type of guy Jay is toward others. This doesn't mean I wish you ill will, cause I don't know you personally, but the defense and offense of these threads is pretty much unnecessary. And if you can't take a joke, then radio probably isn't for you.

I come to this forum looking for jobs, and mostly just read the threads. If people want things to be hunky dory all the time, join a church message board.

btw, if you have jobs in production email me: [email protected] ! :D

Thanks to Sam and WIBG1020...and to Markerr too. And to some of the people who still can't get it...

First, in reference to the New Jersey 101.5 comment at that "dinner"... I was simply acknowledging that indeed, that station IS the 800 lb. gorilla in NJ. Everyone knows it. I was "misinterpreted" by someone who WANTED it to sound like I was being full of hubris. I was SIMPLY saying..."Yeah...it's damn good station that did what it set out to do and STILL works despite all of the orignal nay-sayers." THAT'S what "I KNOW" meant. Now I can see how one COULD skew that into being a snide remark or ME being a bit TOO proud of my role.

I bumped into ONE of the LEAD GUYS in the formation of that station from the VERY beginning recently. We hugged and smiled!! He will remain nameless because I don't want to have HIM given the business by the snarkers. But HE said to ME..."Boy we sure did have a fun doing that project, didn't we?" He went on to say, "And each of us had a role to play and it was executed properly by all involved." What he meant was there were 5 KEY players involved in the formation of the station...and HE and I were just TWO of them to see it from just an idea, brewing into the mega-station it became in a very short time. Plus WALT SABO'S role can NOT be taken lightly. HE was the genius behind it all happening. OWNERSHIP/UPPER MANAGEMENT allowed it to happen...and the rest of us did our JOBS.

I hope this serves as a lesson that the person who OVERHEARD me say "I KNOW" did not know of all that went INTO making that project the success it was. There was a lot of luck, a lot of hours, a lot of worry, a lot of FUN too. But I must say..."I KNOW" was REAL and sincere!!! For the RIGHT reasons... "I know" just as the others in that incubation stage COULD know.

I do so appreciate the people who GET what I mean by my postings here. I am honored actually to BE in the company of GOOD people who live and work to serve, create and and do the best they can at all times EVEN under the most TRYING circumstatances. So "BE BIG" is not just a phrase...they are words to LIVE by. I cannot continue to have to keep refuting or explaining every word I say or write. Just get that my intentions are ALWAYS pure. If I've ever done or said anything to YOU PERSONALLY and you'd like to DISCUSS it with me...again, my email is always open and TWO WAY.

BE BIG! Jay
