Big Mistake should of went after OGL

Just to get back at CBS and grab a piece of the OGL lucrative pie....Classic Oldies ala WMID, "oh wow" tunes from 55 to 75. If you like Standards, which was also a possibility on 97.5, after dark AM 740 from Toronto is a great catch and a fantastic Standards station. WVCH is overpowered, 740 comes in crystal clear, in the car, home or portable, a nice alternative to the non-existant WHAT at night.

Sadly, standards is a no go pretty much everywhere theese days.

AM 740 was recently sold.
The new owner has just added talk radio to the format durring the mid day, and god only knows wether or not the plan is to add more talk or not.
The other station that I *thought* would have given standards a try just the other day abandoned their classic country format for an all talk format. (Hamilton's 820 CHAM)
They said "ten thousand reasons to listen...monday" so I thought they were going to do ten thousand standards songs in a row...nope!

Instead, they are giving ten thousand dollars away as the all new talk 820.

"Canada's foremost consumer advocate Dale Goldhawk can now fight for you on AM 740, and share valuable insights and advice, tips and solutions, navigating today's precarious consumer society."

Dale Goldhawk talks 10AM-1PM weekdays on Toronto's AM740:

I make terrestrial licensing arrangements for Hy Lit Radio Technologies programming. Another example of licensing can be observed at http://www.windowsmedia.com/radiotuner/MyRadio.asp as Windows Media has HyLitRhythm.com as a feature listing with direct distribution.

Aren't you also simulcast on WSNJ/WMVB in the overnights?

Jonathan Casey and the gang at WSNJ/Quinn broadcasting are a great group to work with and we had a great 18 month run, however we regrettably decided not to renew the WSNJ/WMVB simulcast arrangement due strictly to one of those little pesky revenue arrangement issue type things. I will always marvel over the WSNJ studios, which are right out of a vintage dream. I will say this; we are always interested in exploring another terrestrial simulcast home for HyLitRadio in South Jersey. We call letter feed Hy Lit Radio technology broadcast partners, and if you heard HyLitRadio over WSNJ it was a custom simulcast with a classic WSNJ jingle identity package that I personally produced. It was way too cool, even on AM.

Re: Big Mistake ; Should have Targeted OGL

Ouch! A great idea, again, gets destroyed. I'd love knowing where these semi-literate headbangers are. Sounds like they need some 8th-grade English knocked into their heads. The premise of 97.5 trying to flank OGL, though, is a sound one. 740 Toronto, indeed has been sold and now operates with the call CFZM. And as to overpowering WVCH at night??? WVCH cuts power at night from 1 kW to SIX WATTS. Reason? 740 is a Canadian clear, and the 50 kW monster in Toronto(transmitting into a half-wave high tower at 740 from a hamlet 25 miles west of the city)is one of the major occupants. And WVCH would cut a good chunk of CFZM's coverage away were it to run with 1 kW at night. WVCH was heard by a DXer 100 miles NORTH of Toronto one day just after power increase at sunrise...

Wow. I can't believe the they would jettison the CHWO call letters for CFZM. Those letters are not even easy to pronounce, let alone remember.
Anyhow, Eeeyyooo Dave, when are you going to conduct a late night transmitter test with the 1KW fired up? And when was the last time you had er up for tests on the overnight. And what ever happened to that 50KW 6 tower engineering study for WVCH? Any copies of that around? How many more questions do I get?
