2009 could be quite an exciting year on the talk side of the dial with big changes at KIRO, KOMO, KVI and KTTH. The simulcast on FM changes the landscape a bit, so will the Mariner move and so will the PPM. (which doesn't seem to favor news or talk) Now might be the time to make changes in a political year with lots of cume tuned to these stations until the election is over. Change can be good, it can also mess up listening habits. I still have a tough time tuning in to Seahawks games on 97.3, for some reason I prefer 710. Still have them as a button on my radio and rarely go to 97.3. I flip back and forth between KIRO and KOMO to catch headlines or traffic. First trend this week will give some indication if listeners are migrating to the FM dial for news/talk. In all this shakeup I wonder if KIRO will abandon plans to go with Sports on AM, now that KOMO is going right at them with news/talk? Seems KOMO is setting the stage to pick up AM News/talk listeners. Maybe the FM News/talk will be so strong it won't matter. Guess time will tell.
