It looks like the Dickey Bros are gone as well. Does anybody think this could be a positive for Cumulus CHR stations? Jan was committed to his formula based on playing it safe with new adds as well as a lot more gold than you typically hear on non-Cumulus CHRs. As a result, a lot of Cumulus CHR stations sound like poorly programmed Hot AC stations. In some markets this worked while in more competitive markets it nearly killed many stations, especially those that had been Citadel stations. Do you think Cumulus will continue that same formula in the post-Jan era or might Cumulus stations finally start sounding like real CHRs?
I have to admit, Cumulus stations did improve after the Dickey Bros took over programming, with more spins per week given to currents. However, Jan still required the formula of late, safe adds and a significant amount of gold going back 15 years. Now that Jan is gone, will this change?
