Big News Monday?

> WMC-DT is already on the CC tower, and when they turn off the analog

I wonder... remember that, since WMC-DT is on channel 52, they cannot stay on that channel. WMC-TV has elected to return to channel 5 as their final DTV home. Sad really, that Memphis' heritage TV station will be living on low-band VHF as a digital, the low-rent district for DTV -- funny how things change, right?

But, I was wondering the same thing about the real estate, 'Saur. I would be shocked if any real property comes with the sale, I THINK (and someone may correct me), CBS really doesn't own any here, the TV side does.

> People there may have contracts that may protect them a bit financially...

As Meepster pointed out, contracts are not designed to guarantee a job. Nor do they guarantee an employee. They simply spell out what happens in the event of breach. Further, there is another issue. Let's assume I work for station WXXX, owned by Huge Corporate Broadcasting, Inc. WXXX is bought by Monolithic Broadcasting, LLC. Monolithic is probably NOT required to honor the contract; my contract runs between me and Huge. Monolithic and I are not in (standy by... fancy law word alert) Privity. Now, there are other issue that might be in play here, but they are a bit esoteric (e.g., ratification by acquiescence, terms in the sale contract, verbal assurances given to employees by the new group, etc.).

One thing's is for sure, if I worked for a station absorbed by a new company, and I were under contract, I would dust off the document, and let my lawyer make a quick pass through it.

I made some friends at FM100 while I was there. I was VERY well treated, and well-paid. It was an exceedingly nice place to work while I was there (which was a while back). I wish all those guys nothing but the best.

Oh, but speaking of leaving one's employer (and to lighten the mood on a tough day for some), check out this audio clip from WBLX in Mobile, my old stomping ground. This is what happens when you underpay important staffers:

The audio is self-explanatory. YOU GO GIRL!

;DSo...she won't be working out her two weeks' notice, then?

Hahahahahaha! That is funny!

I can think of a few times I would have enjoyed doing something along those very lines myself.
I guess flipping a desk over on a GM is as close as I've come to that. That was 20 years ago, and I'd never do it again...but, it was a rush. He was lyin' and had it comin', so I quit that biotch!

This was great audio DE...she shoulda been gettin' at least 7 an hour anyway!

Meep!

Anyone who goes against "Meepster" will regret it for the rest of their life....

BOTH SECONDS OF IT! ;)

Now that I AM old...things have calmed down considerably!

We still gonna shoot guns and drink?

That's affirmative! ;D

Well, I'm not down with the drinking (unless it's Gatorade), but the directed discharge of firearms? Always a good thing... ;D

hey guys...watch that kerosene intake...

i believe the wolf will be howling at the moon in memphis very soon!

It would be crazy now to not say that 94.1 is on the clock. You're probably dead on, Kay. Entercom LOVES their wolves...

94.1 The Wolf has a definate ring to it. And there won't be any goofy amphibian references to doom it this time. ;D

Think about this for a second:

WRVR
FM100
94.1 The Wolf
...whatever they think of for 93X (yes, I think they are on the clock, too).

That's a monster cluster any way you look at it. This is going to be fun to watch, and you can assume that with 'RVR and 100 in the same dugout, the next team to take on is KIX. Use 94.1 to move away from those two, and attack KIX...and you've got Entercom #1 & #2 in billing.

actually yes. On a bagel with cream cheese fresh onions for breakfast.
