BIG NEWS: YouTube TV to drop CBS, Paramount channels

CBS Sports Network still running, MTV networks still running, Nickelodeon still running, etc. Can only assume that talks are still going on, or that the plug will be pulled once all of the U.S. is officially on Feb. 13.

Very curious…this is what I’m seeing from the YTTV Help Center. The scope as far as broadcast stations are concerned appears to be limited to O&Os, and possibly not even all of those. Denver, or Colorado as CBS calls it, isn’t listed, for example.

That list is of the independent stations owned by CBS, not the O&Os. It appears that this would affect all stations affiliated with CBS, as there is no national CBS feed that bypasses the affiliates/O&Os.

it's most likely the deadline was 11:59:59 PM PT on Feb. 12, meaning they were removed at Midnight PT which is 3 AM CT, 2 AM CT, 1 AM MT.

I gather you don't have YouTube TV. Otherwise, you wouldn't be making speculative posts now about what YTTV did hours ago.

What is actually happening on YTTV on my set, here in Vermont, live and local, at 9:24 a.m. EST Feb. 13, is ... status quo. My local CBS channel is still on, the MTV channels are on, Nickelodeon is on, CBS Sports Network is on, etc.

Please, non-subscribers, stay out of this thread.

8:45am check this morning here in Houston and all the normal services still available on YTTV. No missing recordings, either.

Going on Keeparamount.com (interesting using one P instead of correct spelling of 2) & seeing the channels that I could lose with the zip code I'm in (Phoenix, AZ) & CBS is amongst the channels that could get pulled tonight, even though KPHO is owned by Gray.

Yes and no. For at least some scheduled recordings in the "library", a subscriber can actually choose between a national feed or a recording off the local station. One can skip the commercials on the local recording - and this is true for an O&O as well, but that's not possible with the national recording. The live feed is from the local station.

I've seen a Bluesky repost of a YouTube TV tweet (I won't use "X" any more) indicating that a deal has been reached with Paramount.

Update edit: Just got an email from YTTV that begins, "We're happy to share that we've reached a deal to continue carrying Paramount content on YouTube TV."

and sooner or later, the YouTube TV customers will find out the hard way that YouTube cave to Paramount's demand for a rate increase and jacks the bill up even more, it happens all the time in the paid media content business.
