Big O leaving WQAM

From Barry Jackson's column on 9/22/10:

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/09/22/1835813_p2/florida-marlins-decisions-loom.html#ixzz10oxpBMez

• Quick radio note: Orlando Alzugaray -- unhappy with being moved from late mornings to evenings -- is leaving WQAM in two weeks after 13 years at the station, but isn't discussing his next move: ``I'm disappointed with my career path at WQAM. I felt I had no room to grow.''

Any ideas to where he may go? Could 790theTicket hire him (after his non-compete) to replace "the Herd" and go all local again?

Sorry to hear that. But Joe Bell has totally screwed up QAM anyway with the lame Toretta and Michael Irvin shows. I always thought Stephenson and Anita Marks hit it off well and should have been offered a permanent spot somewhere after their brief run. Good luck Orlando wherever you land. As long as it isn't on the Internet Radio station.

So you're saying if he ends up on the internet you wish him bad luck?

On Big O's Facebook Page a little while ago: "The Big O Show returns to the airwaves this Thursday from 3-7pn on 640 AM WFTL. Starting Sept 30th. The Big O will air Mon-Fri from 3-7pm, hopefully you will choose us for your drive home"

Hope this answers your questions.

No, I don't wish him bad luck if he ends up on the Internet. I can't listen at work and listen on drive to and from work. He was on 640 AM this morning for almost a half hour, previewing his new show. I guess he doesn't have a "non-compete" with QAM or 640 isn't considered competition.

And they said Eddie Kaplan was leaving 640 so I assume he was given the axe. Guess that ends Hank Goldberg's Friday afternoon spot regarding the weekend "spreads".

I went to 640 after I got in my car for the drive home and no Big O. Later on they said it was a legal issue between him and QAM. I figured as much, the non-compete thing. And I was so happy that I had a choice so I didn't have to listen to fake name Weiner and LeBatard with their "jokes" that aren't funny or obnoxious, nasally New Yawk homer, Sid. Oh well, O's time will come.

I hate to see him go to 640....its a place where careers end. Too bad.
