Big ole can of worms

OK all soothsayers and radio programing guru types...lets just play a game of "If I was in charge of CC/GSO"

What would you do to turn things around? Lets go fishing! This should be fun!

if I was in charge of CC GSO...I'd be praying for a buyer!

If I was in charge of CC GSO I would pray that Morgan Bohannon found a great job with another radio group really soon. Then, I'd reinvent WTQR. It needs to be completely reimaged and relaunched as the hip new Country station. And, I don't think that's possible at this point, especially with all the new CC "freezes". I'd say they're really in a bad place right now. All the Wolf did was come in and market to position themselves as the cool new station. They don't really do anything so dramatically different. I've heard people say that they think WTQR is arrogant and they're sick of their morning show. Although they tried to counter attack the Wolf's positioning, they took the wrong path with the marketing of Eloise and Brother Bill. The market thinks that show is stale. Unfortunately, the time for being able to fight the Wolf attack is past. Nothing short of reimaging and relaunching is going to work at this stage. It's going to be a long cold year over there.

History DOES repeat itself. I remember when WKZL first went on the air and launched an attack on WMAG positioning them as the old un-cool station and WKZL as the hot new thing. They used lots of TV to do it. It was exactly like the Wolf attacking WTQR. AND, WKZL succeeded and WMAG was plunged into nearly two years of struggling to stay alive. It wasn't until a new PD came on board and started paying close attention to the music, that WMAG was able to crawl back to being one of the top stations. This scenario is identical to what the Wolf has done to WTQR. Too bad people don't pay closer attention to history. :-\

If I was in Charge of CC GSO or CC anywhere, I would be updating my resume.
At this point nothing short of CC selling everything they own will help them.

MaskMan, you are to be commended for your insightful comments on this thread. Those who use the board to take another shot at CC are, frankly, useless. Thank you for be constructive!

I do believe you are right on many points. WTQR has a strong heritage and can come back with the right tools. They need a morning show that can meet and greet the audience. Country listeners like that personal touch and the one on one feeling it brings.

Aunt Eloise was a great character in her day! The humor was timely and topical. The mystery was part of the magic of the station. The character has grown tired and the mystery is harder and harder to pull off.

If I were in charge of CC in GSO, I would wonder where in my life I had taken the wrong turn, as I would obviously have no scruples, morals or conscious. I would wonder how I could sleep at night, how I could live with myself because of all the careers I would have ruined, all the people I would have sold out to save my own pathetic skin. I would ponder how I could drag myself out of bed and eat the daily s***burger that was my own life. Finally, I would come home, close the curtains, loosen my tie and mix myself a double vodka and Drano.

Yes, being in charge of CC GSO is going to be no picnic, but look on the bright side! You could be in charge of 94.1 and working for the Hiltons at the all new Majic 94.1! ;D
