big signal fm for sale?

My best guess is that this is that station in Apalachicola.....bow wow bow wow.....

I am sure it ain't Crestview....JW would be asking alot more money....it has to be that Apalach station.

I bid on a CP a few years back there. I think the final bid was around 140k. Thank God I didn't win it. :)

After all the investment he's put on AAZ (and still no stereo sound..) I doubt he will ever sell. This has become a legacy just like the old ABB did. Unless he decides to pull out of radio, that station is sticking.

"Soft rock 104.7 WAAZ" has a better ring since were now over flooded with country stations.

I just did some Google research on WOCY 106.5 and the area it covers. Who in the world thought this station needed 100,000 watts?

This had to be a move-in gone bad--no moving to Panama City, no moving towards Tallahassee. Bow wow indeed!

.... or have the patience and cash to sit on it until the Carabelle area starts growing like 30A has been over the past decade. You think Mark Carter had a south Walton county audience when he put 106.3 on the air? Now he's got his own market! I know a couple real estate investors that have purchased tracts of land near Carabelle large enough to build Golf Course subdivisions. They believe it just a matter of time before that area starts looking like Destin and they'll be able to develop it and reap the profits in their lifetimes, though their grandkids will probably inherit most of the money.

Been to Carrabelle & Apalachicola....lovely drive. I like the Carrabelle "Police station", although it's just a thing to talk about (it's a phone booth----but the real police station is blocks away).

Whereas it is true that the population isn't exactly NYC in that area, doesn't a 100k FM on a peninsula like that cover a lotta coastline?

(It is true, a CHR shouldn't work there....never understood that one.)

Short towers. Oyster Country covers about the same area. Still don't understand why country wasn't put on the big signal, unless it upgraded to 100kw after the formats had established homes.

What ever happened to the "Oyster Radio" group anyway? Didn't they run 3 FMs down there in Apalachicola... pretty much every station in town?

If I remember correctly, WOCY 106.5 did come on originally as country as "Oyster Country". Then 104.5 signed on (last year?) briefly as a rock station (with some CW and blues) before becoming "Faith Radio" // 1070/90.1/105.7. I think about that time 106.5 changed to "Hitz 106".
