big topic today at work: disaster plan

Do you have a disaster plan. What if....god forbid something happens. What are you going to do? On 9-11 we had major issues. Couldn't get CBS news in a few of the studios. What if the disaster happened in your market. Who is coming into the station to get the most important information on the air. Or whos to say you'll be able to broadcast your towers could be on the ground. What do you do then. What about local officials, your local EMA office do they know how to contact you. Its easy to make these plans today, but they are very difficult to do when a major event is happening nationally or in your own back yard.

I think you can plan and plan. But, you never know what to really expect? Does that make sense. I know I've tried to plan promotions events and many times almost everyone forgets the plan half way in and you are thinking people are going to think intelligently in a time of emergency and high stress. But, I guess if you map every single item out and give everyone a copy and then drill on it. Maybe, it would work. But, most of the time the plan will go out the window.
