"Big WECK"?

Does this mean that they're giving up on the rip-off of the old WHTT "Oldies 104" rainbow jukebox logo?

Big WECK? When you try to access the station website, a message pops up saying "THIS SITE IS NOT SECURE AND YOUR DATA MAY BE HACKED".

It's curious that Townsquare said Joe Chille retired, and yet the very next week he shows up at WECK. They didn't mention that in the press release...

I don't get a warning when I go to their website. It looks good to me.

WECK changes their on air line up/fires/hires more than some people change their underwear

To be fair, im not saying im that good of a jock or my career hasn't been bumpy.. but they seem to go through people more often than I'd expect,

It appears that many if not most of the changes have had to do with Buddy's efforts to employ "senior" Buffalo talents and that is commendable. Some have not held up to a daily work routine, some may have not been able to follow today's formatics, and some... like many of us ( :cautious: ) get a bit crotchety as we get older!

But what does it say when a talent publicly “retires” (and gets reported in the trades) then shows right away up at another station? Sure sounds disingenuous…

Oh, and for David…this is Joe’s second time at WECK. He left the first time to go back to TSM.

According to this, he retired from "full time morning host duties at The Breeze." Not radio completely.

There was an earlier discussions speculating that everything isn't exactly happy at TSM. Now, maybe Joe just got tired of getting up at 4:30 every morning, or maybe he was getting tired of getting more work heaped onto his plate for the same or less money. You have to admit that losing an OM/PD of multiple stations and a morning talent/PD of one of their stations over a short period of time indicates everything there isn't rosy.

Old Geezers can't follow formatics because they need a nap during their airshift???

Chille probably has a hard time remembering who he's working for. He bounces back and forth like a yo-yo. The "retirement" was more likely Townsquare saying "It's no longer convenient to pay you". What's odd is that the article says he will continue working part time for Townsquare. Is his WECK gig also part time? Sounds like two part time jobs with no health benefits at either one. Hip and knee replacement ain't cheap...

That's parsing a press release. For most people "retired" means leaving your line of work. Although in that press release Chille was supposed to be doing TSM's PA show on a part-time basis.

Now comes confirmation he's "semi-retired" and now at WECK, also on a part-time basis.

I guess here in Buffalo it's OK to be employed by two different radio companies (notice I didn't say "competing").

It is in places I've worked as long as both approve.
For over a year in San Juan, I consulted three separate FMs. Each had a different format, and the owners of each were friends. But at one point, the improved ratings at one of them resulted in a management offer so I dropped the other two... but remained friends with the other two owners until one sold and the other passed away.

Not all broadcasters are land sharks.

No, because they came from an era where formatics and playlists were not as strict.

I suspect he is on Medicare. They will take care of that.
