Biggest Format Hole in Bay Area Radio???

Lkeller said:
Yes, David - I'm sure he means 1590. And when we talk about KFRC, we're referring to the 1940s when the station had a live band, and Merv Griffin was their singer. Or - we mean the MOR version of KFRC of the 50s and 60s with great DJs like Van Amburg.

The point is that radio stations are fluid, and sometimes callsigns apply to more than one station. The classic case in the Bay Area is "KSAN" -- which KSAN is being referred to? There was the groundbreaking R&B AM on 1450. There was the hippie KSAN on 94.9. There was the country KSAN also on 94.9. There is the current oldies station on 107.7.

So, let's take the case of KSJO. I was being facetious referring to the very old KSJO, now KLIV. But the KSJO of 92.3 refers to a station with several formats over the years. Sure, they were all variations on rock, but they had different PDs, different formatics, and different emphasis over the years.

Wasn't 92.3 KSJO a TOP-40 station in the early 70s, that played all TOP-40, Artist like Barry Manilow, ABBA, John Denver, or anything that was a hit regardless of genre? Or was that KOME?
