Biggest Loser Thoughts

IMO I think this show has run its course and it is time to end it. It has gotten to the point of actually encouraging people to become fat and to try out for the show for the money prize.

What would happen if the producers suddenly decided to take away the money prize? How many people would try out to save their own lives?

Let's have a "Survivor-Biggest Loser Edition". Put them on an island with bananas and
coconuts and see how much they drop.

I never had any respect for Jillian Michaels. Bob Harper is ok. I watched the show when I could, and I always wondered what went on behind the scenes that we never see. I forgot which contestant won the biggest loser, only to gain it all back a year later.

While I encourage people to lose weight, the way these people lose it is too extreme, and doesn't give the body enough time to adjust to the weight loss. One winner from another season appeared on The Doctors, and showed his extremely flabby stomach from the fast weight loss. That was gross. This show does not help the problem 100%. I do agree that some contestants are there just for the money (if they even win the biggest loser). I'd like to know how many of those people kept most of that weight off today.

I quit watching this show. They could do the whole thing in half an hour but they expanded it to TWO by padding it down with sob stories, group hugs, crying and flashbacks after every commerical. I don't have time for that crap

Kinda like how "American Idol" used to pad down the show with filler to take up two hours' time - remember that ill-fated call-in segment? Brutal...

I don't know what you saw that led you to that conclusion, but I would disagree with you, based on my brother-in-law's experience. He and his brother, each well over 400 lbs, went to NYC to audition for the show. When informed that they would not be selected, my brother-in-law hinted at trying again the following year and was asked by the show's representatives what was keeping him from starting to lose the weight now.
