Bill Calder on WIOD

Uncovered a couple of hours of Bill with Linda Thorton from the Herald from 1987.

If you are interest in hearing shows from some of the best talk radio let me know and if you are not let me know if I am just wasting my time.

Can't speak for anyone else, but do appreciate your postings. Bill Calder was one of the nicest guys ever. Would like to hear it. Bill was so under appreciated by the mass audience- but the fans he had really loved him. His older comedy bits in the 70s on WIOD always made me laugh.

It is up on YouTube, glad someone remembers the good ole days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4FL9XLhNqA

I was working in the Miami area in 1976 and WIOD in that era was a perfect example of the now lost format of full service personality radio. Bill Calder was great, also Big Wilson who I knew from his WNBC days, and even live & local Larry King was entertaining then. They even played games on the air. Just good entertaining conversational (not confrontational) talk.

Remember Joe Johnson who went from FM to AM and back again. He may have been the first FM person to do a bit for Neil Rogers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Art-6f5h6gc&feature=youtu.be

There's recorded evidence from about 1976 (via the old American Airchexx audio magazine) that with his improv and character voice skillz, Bill Calder could even make Larry King funny. (if I ever get all my crap outta storage, NeilFan, I'll get it to you.)

Thanks Mr. Schuyler, would like to hear you show for WIOD someday. And your bits were the best. ::)

We got lucky and received more Bill Calder audio. It will take awhile, but will let you know when it is ready for download and available on YouTube.
