Bill Engvall Show promos on TBS

I know stations try to get creative when it comes to promoting their shows, but during episodes of Family Guy, Bill Engvall pops up on the bottom of the screen with a remote, pauses the episode of family guy mid-scene, and then tells people to watch his show. Then if that wasn't annoying enough, the family guy episode resumes for about 10 seconds before TBS breaks away for commercials.

IMO it is already annoying to see show ads pop up on the bottom of the screen numerous times during a TV show. This I feel is going overboard.

Your thoughts?

Years ago, I thought they went too far when they started talking over the closing credits' music. The arm twisting and hype get more intense with each passing year.

What's scary is that they'll keep thinking of more ways to push the envelope. It won't be long until we won't have a moment's peace watching our favorite shows.

So they're doing that crap again? It's bad enough I'm seeing TBS ads constantly on the Wal-Mart HD channel where I work. :(

Thank you for bringing this up! That promo was SO annoying that - after gaping in disbelief and yelling at the TV - I switched channels to watch "Click" on Starz. No more TBS that night. And it gave me the urge to find Bill Engvall and punch him in the face!! Of course, it's really the programmers at TBS who deserve the black eyes....

This spot was the worst, most intrusive, program interruption that I have ever seen. And that is saying a lot, now that we have promos all over the screen and bugs which spread text over 20% of the screen throughout a show.

This stuff has to end - there's got to be a tipping point of diminished returns.

sorry to hi-jack this thread!

Hey Kevin, is your Walmart showing that stupid cell phone commercial with Meatloaf and his son singing on those monitors that hang from the ceiling that say WALMART TV Network? The Walmart I work as a cashier at is running that thing every 5 mins.

And yes during FG on Monday nite they did the stupid Bill Engvall thing.

Not to get off topic but those TVs that hang from Wal-Mart's/Super Wal-Mart's are just pointless. I know a couple I go to they don't even have theres on. Whos going to wanna stand and watch it anyways. LOL. Just had to say that.

The TVs in the front end and one by apparel run that ad. We get a separate "HD" feed on whatever channel 14-1 is in back by our department.
