Bill Evans MIA for good?

I was on my way to NY this morning and didn't hear Bill Evans on WABC or WPLJ. I believe Cumulus is sending a strong message here that domestic violence has no place in our society and any man who would allegedly punch any woman in the face for whatever reason, especially his wife, should not be given the public trust and be on the radio. I do not miss his weather, in fact the "Weather Dude" Nome Laden did a spectacular job in his place. Hearing Scott on WPLJ worked fine too. While I know there are two sides to this story, it is clear a physical altercation did take place according to both accounts from the newspapers. Simply put, hitting a woman over a set of car keys is inexcusable, and doing this with your kids there is poor on both sides. Kudos to parent company Cumulus for doing the right thing!

I'm not sure Cumulus is sending any message here.
It sounds like Evans is keeping out of the public eye until things are resolved, at which point a decision on his future would be determined.

I would not get into the habit of judging someone based on a story you read in the NY Post.
You don't know the facts, and there are (at least) two sides to any story such as this. Neither of the parties are painted in a particularly good light, if you are to believe what you read in the press.

based on several reports, it sounds like she's one crazy bitch herself... i'm in no way a supporter of domestic violence when taken to an extreme but if she attacks in such a fashion that's going to harm someone badly, she deserves to be fought like a man. maybe she deserved more than just a punch.

exactly.. I've read some reports on dana, like one store who banned her for life because she was a bit crazy and rude to the stores employees. I can't speak for her, but after loosely knowing bill for the last 6 years or so, at public and non public events alike, he doesn't seem like the violent type to me. I have been told he can get a bit full of himself, but that just might be the haughty rich conneticut upbringing... If some crazy bitch hit me with a chair till it broke, scratched my balls till they bled, and I couldn't run fast enough away, I'd be defending myself too.... Divorce makes you GO crazy, even when it's not yours! Trust me, I know!

then again, the original poster also thinks jeff mckay sounds great on the radio ;o) j/k....(just my self deprecating sarcasm at work, don't take it seriously ;o)..

It's surprising that Channel 7 or whoever feeds Bill's reports couldn't provide a substitute. But it does highlight, as the OP points out, that shows can sound better without the additional clutter of an obligatory weather feed. Bill Evan's hyperfast talking isn't at all compatible with Noam Layden's relaxed style, nor is Jennifer Nittoso's piercing voice compatible with the John Gambling show.

Shreder obviously you have some issues, but why drag Jeff Mckay into this. He is a good traffic reporter IMHO and I don't believe he's ever been accused of assaulting anybody. I have to commute a few times weekly to NY and when it comes to traffic I've found him to be more accurate than most. A few weeks ago when there was a problem at the GW Bridge not only did he have the problem, but his alternate was absolutely perfect and saved me over 30 minutes! By comparison, other stations had the traffic mess but weren't giving alternates and Joe Nolan on WCBS 101.1 didn't even mention it! Yes I depend on traffic when I have to travel nearly 2 hours. Mckay knows his stuff. And Joe not having traffic or being really late with something being cleared off a road isn't new. That's why I don't depend on Joe Nolan anymore. If I need laughs I'll put on the comedy channel on siriusxm.

As for the Evans issue, it doesn't matter whether his wife is rude or not. YOU DO NOT RAISE A HAND TO A WOMAN - PERIOD. And why not post a link to this "store" story, if it's really true at all. I have to question that and look forward to your next post with the link as evidence.

And likewise, I look forward to seeing the conclusive evidence that you have proving your statement that Evans, in fact, raised a hand to a woman. All I see is two wildly contrasting stories provided by their respective attorneys. Neither one is particularly flattering, and does not necessarily prove anything. The only 'fact' I can come up with is that it's a sad situation, especially considering the involvement of children.

You may certainly choose to judge people based upon third-hand accounts of what's in the NY Post; that's obviously your business. But that does not cause your judgments to become facts.

he DOES talk helluva lot of fast, doesn't he?

also, no matter who's side you might fall on in this, keep in mind this whole thing was made public as part of a divorce ploy. Obviously each side is going to paint the worst of the other. for all we know, only hands where slapped, and they are blowing injuries on BOTH sides WAY out of proportion to try and gain sympathy or favor

dude, I was joking....hence why I put in don't take it seriously. just noticed that you don't seem to be a fan of either bill or joe when the poor guys are having problems. hence the attempted sarcasm. anyway....

As for the comment, I'm looking for it now, but it was in one of the reader comments in an article on the story. apparently she threw a bit of a nasty fit in a store, too.. who knows, true or not... maybe she was having a bad day.

and speaking of cumulus sending a message...back to the original point...I listen to the show late, and did anyone notice this morning if they mentioned who the weather was from? the OP might have been right on that account. as of last week, they where still saying 'Bill Evans' weather. Today, the break I didn't fast forward through simply said 'today's weather'...

All joking aside, he would not have been charged by the police in Connecticut if they didn't have evidence or believed even a small part of his wife's story. Yes she was charged too and that should be told. However, I can say from experience after a dear family friend was assaulted by her ex-husband (ironically punched in her face too which led to their divorce) that any man should not raise a hand to a woman, regardless of circumstance or "bad day". To say otherwise sends the wrong message, especially if you are the father of 3 daughters as I am. I don't know all of the details but his situation seems like another recently to a TV reporter in NY whose name I can't remember that I read about. He was fired and rightly so. I would have to believe that Cumulus Media would have to part ways with Bill Evans if the allegations of punching his wife are true, regardless of circumstance. I'm sure WPLJ and WABC will continue along fine without him.

if I knew who that was, i might be able to answer in snarky, but it's probably more real than bill's is ;o)...

Well, supposedly Bill is back on wabc and wplj. funny.. i mentioned what happened to bill to a few lady friends who wanted to know where he was and they just shrugged it off like it happens all the time. ahh, the world of divorce drama....

People do take vacation. Maybe Bill just took some time off or was moving his stuff out of his house. It is Bill's personal business, don't worry about it.

I believe Noam Laden is just the WABC news guy, not a doctor per his bio.
