Bill Flynn afternoons on Rush Radio

Flynn will do Morning Drive on Rush Radio, most likely from 6am to 9am. I suspect it all has to do with money. WMAG has been a little top-heavy with highly paid personalities, so I think either Flynn had to move or maybe lose his job. Flynn has never been one to do voice-tracking or production, whereas Rod Davis has been voice-tracking for some time, making him more valuable to the company. The WS Journal reported that Rod will move to AM Drive with Lora Songster, but that Flynn will still be heard in PM Drive (Rod's former slot) on WMAG. I would imagine Flynn will voice-trak his PM Drive slot on WMAG, enabling CC to cut a salary. All sounds logical in the CC mode of thinking. ;D Bill Flynn has been a fixture on WMAG since the early 80's. Seems kinda sad to see that change.

I'm shocked MAG has been able to keep the salaries they have left....This probably IS a cost cutting move. Lora HATES working with Bill, so WMAG will probably sound better. Flynn has been mailing it in for years. I wonder how he'll adjust to a talk show. I bet he's gone within 6 months.

Its ironic that WMAG, which was once known as WMFR-FM, is losing their long time morning person at the same time that Max Meeks, the long time morning person on WMFR-AM is retiring. Well, its probably only interesting to those of us who remember there was a WMFR-FM, and people like Frank Lambeth who owned the stations way back in the 20th century. I'm not sure how wise of a decision it is to move someone that has been a fixture in the same time slot for over 25 years and so identified with WMAG. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

;D ;D ;D WMFR..."We Make Frank Rich" hahahah BIGAPE!

Bill was always a great admirer of Max. That intensifies the irony of their leaving their positions at the same time. I had always heard that Lora did not like working with Flynn. I think she and Rod get along quite well, though. Bet the chemistry will show through.

I'm in agreement that it might be difficult for Flynn to transition to a new format. I understand Flynn is in a good position financially, so my bet is he will be gone in a short period of time if he doesn't like it. He doesn't need the job. He might be up to a challenge, however, after doing the same old - same old for years.

Brad Krantz sort of made the switch from rock and roll to talk...

I think the fact that Bill is a "real people" person will make it an interesting show.

What's interesting to me is that he is going on the second-weakest FM signal in the triad (I'm counting WMKS as the weakest, and discounting WBFJ, WUAG and all the other Non-Commercials, Translators and LPFM's). Additionally, it's a station that has never had a winning English-language format.

If Bill Flynn can make 94.5 a contender in the market, that's a nice little tale to tell his grandkids.

Kinda makes up for the G-105's and Love-97's in his career.

Later . . . .

Come on, let's all give him a chance. After all, we know how Bob The Blade made the successful transition from rock to country on WRDU! ;D

Bill Flynn was a most steller performer when I worked with him at WKIX. He is a genuine, totally nice guy and doesn't have a negative bone in his body. If ever RADIO needed a person who works his ass off everyday......it's Bill. I wish him well in whatever he takes ::) on. I have moved on to BETTER things than radio. Good luck Billy......and send me a message if you can. Love, Jamal [email protected]

That'll be challenged, now that he'll be doing the morning show on "Rush Radio..."

A "real people" person? As opposed to what? A faux people person?

Everyone has the right to be stupid, my friend, but you abuse the privilege.
