I grew up listening to CKLW, WLS and WCFL as they boomed into Erie, PA (CFL and LS at night, the Big 8 all day.) Brother Bill and all the CKLW jocks were bigger than life. Radio heaven just gained another superstar jock. RIP.
What a great natural talent. Like many in our biz, he put on the hype in the 70's, but when he just was being Bill he still sounded fantastic. This Youtube video shows how he was somewhat embarrassed by his "hyper" style in the 70's. Such respect for such talent!
