Bill Gardner Is Back On The Air in So Calif......

Former KOOL-FM morning drive star Bill Gardner is the new morning man and PD at 92.7 JILL-FM, a southern California classic hits trimulcast encompassing KHJL/Thousand Oaks, KAJL/Victor Valley & KJLL in Orange County, according to Tom Taylor's newsletter available on this website

New studios are being constructed in Orange County; Rick Shaw is the OM.

The website is http://www.927jillfm.com.

Victorville?? Bill Gardner is going to be a "Diva On The Dial" in Victorville? YIKES!!

Victorville - former home of the Roy & Dale Rogers Western Museum (moved in 2003 to that famous old western town Branson, MO).

Victorville is head and shoulders above Buckeye!

The Victorville area is where location shooting for Sky King was done.

All Buckeye has is a Media Hut, although Akbar needs to convince us
it's really there, because I've never seen a giant fez off of I-10. ;)

Sorry, and excuse my indulgence, but is the same Bill Gardner who worked at KING Seattle in the 70's?

He doesn't list Seattle in the online "resume" on his website:

http://billgardnerontheradio.com/resume

But you never know!

Isn't there a second Bill Gardner now doing non-comm radio in SoCal?

Maybe KOOL Listener Lauren would have the scoop on Bill's radio past. :)

Victorville is the lowest average income metro in all California.

I know there's more than one Bill Gardner in radio, and I don't have the answer to your question. My bet would be no-- not the same one. I know he was at Wibbage in the early 70s, KCBQ '73ish, maybe Philly again until CFTR Toronto in the late 70s? But don't ask me... :)

It's wonderful to hear Bill Gardner on the radio again!!

I had the extreme pleasure of working with his brother Al Gardner in Tampa Bay for many years..He is now in Charlotte at Newstalk 1110/WBT. A nicer guy you will never meet.

I think he also did time at KVIL Dallas. And he was once an owner of a station in Springerville, AZ if I'm not mistaken.

Yo, NFVG--does that mean that Bill is not a nice guy? ;D And don't forget
(younger?) brother Andre who does PM drive at WMGK Philadelphia.

I've found the other Bill Gardner, who does a weekly '50s/'60s R&B show at
non-comm KPFK El Lay:

http://www.kpfk.org/programs/140-rhapsodynblack.html

Note to the Old Gringo: do not listen to this KPFK show, or you'll risk having
your "demo-meter" blow up! I mean...'50s music...all those old listeners. ;)

Getting back to "our" fave morning guy Bill Gardner, he jocked on one of the
first FM rock stations--KLZ-FM Denver--in the late 1960s. I found a pic of
Bill from 1967 on a Denver radio history site:

http://denverradio.tripod.com/klzfm.html

But beware--it's a Tripod site so you're probably going to get pop-ups or
maybe worse! I know I did (get popped up). ::)

KPFK does not care about demos, as it is a public radio station.

KPFK does not care about listeners, as, for a 110,000 kw supergrandfathered station, it comes as close to having no listeners as is possible... most shows have maybe a few hundred listeners. And, despite a big signal in San Diego, Oxnard, the IE, etc., it does not show up at all in any of those and most of the time has a 0.0 to 0.1 in LA.

Well of course it's not relevant to KPFK--it's your demo-meter that
I was referring to, David. ;)

We don't need any "geezers" and their four-ventaport Buick Roadmasters
listening to the radio. Those well-to-do 55+ folks never buy anything!

OTOH, I'm sure KPFK really gets excited about Pledge Week. ("Is that a
pledge pin...on your uniform??!!" ;D)

We have a Gardner at the Buckeye Media Hut, but his name is Guillermo!

Looking at Bill Gardner's resume http://billgardnerontheradio.com/resume, looks like he used his FAA transport license in between radio gigs. Nurse Jeff and I've heard flying left seat on a regional pays about the same as most radio jobs today!

Umm, well you guys are talking like Victorville, Ca is a bad place but it isn't. I live in Apple Valley, Ca right next to Victorville. Where Bill Gardner works the station is actually located in Orange County near the beach and the station has four transmitters KJLL-FM Fountain Valley (Orange County), KHJL-FM Thousand Oaks, KHJL-1 Malbu Vista, and KAJL-FM Adelanto (Victorville). 92.7 JILL FM has a Orange County office, a Thousand Oaks Office and a Victorville office at the CBS radio studios in Hesperia. The main studio is Orange County where Bill broadcasts from in the morning and they are still building the studios as Bill broadcasts in the morning. This morning he was having problems getting on the air so we didn't hear him until a little after 7am this morning.

I spent time in the Victor Valley when my babies were little and George AFB was still there. Apple Valley is beautiful and the people are great. It beat the heck out of the Valley of the Sun.

George is there I mean whats ever left... They turned George in the a Airport. It's the hub of Southern California.
