Bill Gardner out at Phoenix...come back to Philly

One of those slashes was former WIBG jock Bill Gardner. He was unceremoniously fired from KOOL-FM, Phoenix, where he was #1 morning drive. Bill was a warm voice in the Delaware Valley, and would sound GREAT on WMGK. Billy, come back to "Where Your Friends Are".
 
That's a shocker! How do you lay off the #1 morning personality in your market? Or was he no longer at the top?

Unfortunately, I don't see an opening here in Philly for him.

Well, that move would surely get MY vote! :D

I'll be seeing Bill this weekend, and will be sure to let him know about all the really nice comments posted across this site.

Well Andre, those of us in Phoenix who have appreciated Bill all these years would much prefer seeing him stay in this market. He had a great morning show and he will be missed.

BTW, I have also enjoyed your show on another station here in town and recently asked Bill why KOOL management hadn't picked it up as Bill always talks about you so most listeners here know who you are.

I'm still in shock. I had been out of town for a week and when I came back and didn't hear my favorite morninig voice I thought maybe he was on vacation. No such luck....what the heck happened??? KOOL just isn't the same without Bill so I will no longer be tuning in to that station.

Yeah, Tanya, one day Bill Gardner was on, as normal... everything was 100% fine... and the next day, gone. No mention of his name or what happened. There were no HINTS of it in the morning whatsoever! He wasn't allowed a chance to say goodbye. Horrible, huh? The only hints would come later in the day, when afternoon guy Camelback Jack and traffic guy Joe Corrao thought about "visiting the morning show Friday morning"... So that told you something was up. But visiting this site daily, I already knew the terrible news.

Could not believe it then. Still cannot!!
