That IS weird, because I'm another one who got a prompt reply... I sent something over a month ago and got something back shortly after.

Same here, landtuna! That would be fantastic! He did mention in his thoughtful letter to me that he is looking for something in the Phoenix market, I believe before going elsewhere.
 
Strong rumors from Canada that Bill will be the new morning co-host at Vancouver's CHQM-FM. He'd be taking over a very highly rated AM slot in a 2.5 million listener market. Current host, Terry Reid, is supposedly retiring, amicably, after a 35 year career in Vancouver; not all of it in mornings of course and certainly not all at the same station.
 
Could be a false alarm after all; my Canadian source today, from Bill himself, received this reply to an inquiry regarding "the rumor":

"...As much as I have always loved Vancouver, and indeed my wife and I also have Canadian citizenship, there's no solid facts to this one. Appreciate you asking though, before going with it!

Personally, I think BG is happy in L.V. He used to fly up there from Phx almost every weekend so now the commute is a whole lot shorter. Also, his wife had a job here in the Phoenix area and still may be working down here. That might make the smaller bucks at the Vegas AM a bit more tolerable for Bill.

As good as Tom Peake is (and I do enjoy listening to him) I miss the old motor mouth. Wish he'd land at a fantastic oldies station and take it right to the top (you guys over at the Lumberyard listening?????)
 
Hopefully my last word on this; Bill Gardner is definitely not moving to Vancouver, Canada but another current Phoenix resident will be. A memo circulated yesterday welcoming Mike Schaeffer to CHQM Vancouver as the new morning co-host, starting within the next few weeks. All I know of Mike is that he was the morning host for Sacramento-based, nationally syndicated network, Air-1 and otherwise makes the mortgage as an independent voice-over service provider. That option for we radio folk must be a case of supply exceeding demand by this point. When this fails to pan out or dries up the next stop is usually realtor's license.
Anyone know any further information on Mike Schaeffer's history and CV? Has he ever worked the Phoenix market on-air?
