A young man from Conn started out as a fan of Buddy Holly and in the process became the chief historian, for the legendary artist. Also on the process, he charted the history of the West Texas and eastern New Mexico Rock N' Roll connection, which focused primarily around Holly and Norm Petty Studios and It's rich History. Thru the Bill Griggs chronicles we learned that The Roses and the Picks were the back-up singers on alot of those legendary Holly recordings. He founded the world wide "Buddy Holly Memorial Society" BHMS (of which I am proud member #4,495) and it's official magazine "Reminiscing". He published every imaginable detail in the History of Buddy Holly and every artist, producer, or band that ever came in contact with Buddy. He has been a featured expert in many Rock-u-mentories. Eventaully due to licensing issues he had to forfeit all use of tha name Buddy Holly and he changed his magazine to the "Rockin' 50's" and retired The BHMS. Sadly Bill was diagnosed with cancer and succumbed a month ago at age 69. His BHMS three day festivals in Lubbock Tx,and Clovis NM celebrated in September in honor of Buddy's birthday, which include all-day concerts featuring the who's-who of the Rock N Roll ERa, were priceless. He was a class act and he dedicated his life to preserving and documenting the first decade of Rock N Roll 1955-1965. Ironically Carl Bunch a touring drummer with Buddy Holly died three days before Bill.
