they shutting the doors on 385 too? thats big remote cash. and a hermaphrodite is a chick with a richard. cartmans mom.

The first remote broadcast I did with 104.3 WZYP in Huntsville, AL was at a Bill Heard Dealership. My (then) PD Bill West asked me to quit "HOT AC'ing" it up so much." ;D

K~

It would probably be easier to count the radio folks who have NOT done a remote at Bill Heard.... ;D

The Atlanta board is an interesting read on this topic.

Let's bow our head.....

Lord.....Bill Heard was a radio advocate and provided significant billing for Memphis area radio stations.....we lost Bill to early.....Bill was one of the best radio clients who helped prevent shrinking revenue growth.....he had a very plentiful and rewarding Earthly life.....radio was one of his best friends......streets were named in his honor......but then Lord, you called Bill home......heaven now has a new selection of Chevrolet's, some unusual business practices and a big busted bubble......but now Lord, weekends in heaven will feature more free pizza.

And Lord.....let us also remember those of us who worked with Bill here on Earth....let's remember the thousands of children, or employees, of Bill who are scrambling to feed their families.....let's remember the radio AE's who will face commission chargebacks because Bill will fail to pay for the last 3 months of radio advertisement.......let's remember the radio GM's who will loose hundreds of thousands in billing they will never be able to make up.....let's remember the local talent who, at first, might be thankful for a few less weekend remotes, but will eventually miss the talent fees when doing their taxes. Let's also recognize that Bill Heard business with radio covered many salaries within programming departments. Because Bill is gone Lord, some of the programming overhead within these radio stations may have to be laid off.....the effect of Bill's passing is and will be tremendous....but we know Lord you will show us the way....show the way for those in the radio business to save themselves from more loss, more heartbreak and more death. Amen.

"...and be with them starvin' pymies in New Guinea"

Hey...I've made my share of those Bill Heard talent fees.
REALLY earned 'em out by the airport.
When the other one opened that was better.

World Rental Car Sales was the worst..."Why Buy New When Used Will Do?"
They'd have some damn sale where they'd have cars priced at $100 or something, and people would crowd the gates where you could barely get the van and truck in. People will hurt you if necessary to get a chance at a $100 used car.
That's another thing my radio career taught me.

"Do YOU have a job ?"
"Do YOU have $250 ?"

"Then WE need a loan!"

Seriously, I think someone will probably buy at least the Collierville location. My money's on Sunrise.

You might think so, but I'm not so sure.

I drove past the rotting carcass of Bill Heard yesterday (my 11-year-old likes Cheeburger, Cheebuger at Carriage Crossing). Boy, their inventory is sure top-heavy with big trucks (and lots of white ones). Lots of fleet-type vehicles, too. Nothing much that typical consumers wants, as evidenced by the poor state of GM sales generally. If someone does buy the dealership, they'll be getting it at a fire sale price.

Has BH filed Bankruptcy? If so, the assets will be bought through the Trustee, or with the Court's permission.

I have not heard of a BK filing...but I have heard that GMAC has a security interest in all the empty vehicles, and they are seeking to repossess from all 13 dealerships. The rumor is Bill Heard dealerships were using the cash flow from vehicle sales to support operations & overhead rather than pay off their debt to GMAC. In fact, GMAC cut off Bill Heard back in August.

Hmmmm. Might be time to buy a new truck!

Maybe not so fast...

I just read that Bill Heard has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Now, while Ch.11 implies the company will try to reorganize, I wouldn't hold my breath.

GMAC, or whatever company was floating the cash to purchase inventory, doubtless holds a Purchase Money Security Interest in the inventory (assuming it's properly perfected). If that's the case, the inventory will soon go away. Which begs the question: how does one reorganize as a car dealer without inventory?
